Lol, I was thinking the same thing. Yeah, lots of things come from china. But fabbed Tacoma steel bumpers aren't one of them.

But most materials come from all over the world. I'm not sure where these are welded and built but I've seen the video of the company owner and him talking about them designing their products.

Sure, the materials might come from china, might come from Russia, might come from Turkey. Steel comes from all over. Hooke Road is a Chinese product though, through and through, with an American facade. It's not worth it, in fact, my roof rack is coming off this weekend.

I would like to hear some feedback on this one. For me, it could be a nice drive to pick it up.
Since I live in the rust belt, the only way I would purchase a powder-coated bumper is if was I knew the painting process included an e-coat process or zinc-rich primer before the topcoat went on.

I have the Hooke road roof rack and even pulled the trigger on the swing out tire carrier. I’ve had my roof rack for over two years, have drilled holes to mount things and it still hasn’t rusted on me. As long as you install the fairing with the trim that is recommended it doesn’t make any noise at all. The swing out tire carrier is solid I’ve hit trails with it commuted on the highway and hardly even budges. Only con with the bumper is it didn’t come with a way to lock it swung open.

I added the trim. It still sounded like a tornado on top of my truck. That's the trouble with Chinese stuff. The QC sucks, so the consistency sucks.

This is the Hooke Road rear bumper. For what it’s worth, I have the bumper. I’ll be honest, you get what you pay for. It’s Chinese. The metal is actually fairly heavy duty and would help a little in case of an accident. Other than that I got it mainly for looks (get rid of chrome) and it serves that purpose extremely well for the price. I did however have to get different bolts from the local hardware store to install it which wasn’t a big deal. Here’s a before and after. And one after I put the red/black shackles on. Sorry don’t have one with tailgate up and decently far away, but I can try to get one if you’d like.

Regardless of what bumper you choose, what I've learned from this forum is that it's your truck and you can do whatever you want (just like that guy wanting to do a 6" lift for his Taco and people ripping him a new one asking why). I am very happy with my purchase, it does everything I want at a fraction of the price.

Do your own research and compare other products. For example, Cali Raised LED is based in the Texas, US but sources products from China (proof). Just because it's from China doesn't make it an inferior product (having shitty QC makes it for an inferior product haha)

Caliraised got their start by importing light bars from China, still do.

That’s a pretty neat tool though!

I see you're from New Mexico, a dry country. I'll admit that I don't know the material it's made from, but if it's steel and you live in the rust belt or along the coast it'll rust.

That’s a good point as well and it is steel. We’ve had a lot more moisture this year than most so let’s see if maybe it will start rusting.

Did you wire the lights up? I know that the bumper does not come with a harness, curious if you wired them to the backup lights or not

I have not yet. My plan is to eventually replace the ones it comes with with red Rigid radiance scene pods. I’ll wire the red backlight to the brake/parking lights and the LED (main scene light) to the reverse lights. I imagine it would not take more than about 15 minutes to wire them up though. I just would rather wait until I have what I want in there lol
