    Just get a trailer.....

If you modify the truck it will:
    Add weight that reduces payload
    Vastly hurt the turning radius
    Impact the frame strength
    Impact suspension
    Require a complicated drive shaft
    will be EXPENSIVE.

There are a lot of negatives that go with this mod and those are going to impact it 100% of the time - not just when you use it to haul lumber.
But if you get a trailer you can disconnect the trailer when not in use and it will cost 5 times less than modifying your truck.

    Just get a trailer...

There is a Tacoma (maybe a pre taco) with an 8’ Tundra bed running around out there. Can’t find the picture though. But when I do!

A better mod would be make the bed 1" wider so you can fit a sheet of plywood in it, lol!

Every time I go to Home Depot and try to load plywood or drywall I want to find the Toyota engineer who decided to make the distance between the wheel wells like 47.5 inches and kick him in the NUTS!

i can't wait to see it!

i've got theories as to why manual isn't offered, having to do with ABS/traction control with the longer wheelbase, once you do this, it'll either prove or disprove the theory when you go around the first corner!

They made their own limousines. Then ran them through stupid tests, as usual. That picture is how maneuverable the vehicles were. The red one ran off the wide runway and became mired in the muddy field ... "turning circle of a small galaxy".
