I rented a 2016 Tacoma V6 and a 2016 Tundra 5.7 V8. Didn't care for either one of them due to their gutless engine performance at low and medium rpms. They both suffer from retarded ignition timing (though the Tundra is not as bad in that regard as the Tacoma V6) and the timing is not adjustable like it was on the 1994 and early Toyota pickup motors, so the owners are stuck.

By contrast, my 2015 Camry 4 cyl is very peppy at low rpms and small throttle openings, because it has normal instead of retarded ignition timing, hence is a joy to drive,

Love my 17 DCOR! No issues or recalls yet. Manual (no regrets) but with all the other bells & whistles. If I had one complaint it's the power plant. Horsepower is made at the higher revs. I think I would prefer the 4.0 engine with timing chains instead of a timing belt and making power at lower RPMs. I didn't purchase for the gas milage but I'm averaging around 16 around town.

It's a button on the automatics. It's just below the air conditioning controls. It changes the shift points and drives more agressively and shifts less.

I think I called it ETC button, but you'd still think a Toyota dealer would know what it was. My salesman even went and asked a veteran salesman.

Here's what broke the camel's back. The front seat in the SV didn't work for me, so I needed the Pro-4X with more adjustment. That made it a short bed, ok, I'll live with it. So I got a quote, $2200 more than the SV, ok, it has a lot of options. I'm about ready to pull the trigger and I ask for the pictures of the truck that's 240 miles away. No tow hitch in the pictures. That'll be another $599. Seriously? A Pro-4X all decked out, no tow hitch included? So I made a offer on a Toy I test drove and the rest is history.

Can anyone suggest a good cover to use under the carport, or is it a bad idea? Anything under that carport is nasty in 2 or 3 days. It is very humid here many days in a row, so I know it needs to be something that breathes well.

Nothing wrong with that choice, now go find the ECT button in it and have some fun. Not quite the power of a Tundra but it will scratch your itch.

You sure? I thought all the A/T tacos came with an ECT button, my first gen has one.

My 2011 SR5 did not. But it was an SR5. So I could be wrong.
