Considering trading 2010 Tundra for 2017 Tacoma

I would hope not. Your boat and trailer is what, 2700 pounds?

Around 3000 full 30 gals of fuel and gear.

 

The Pro-4x has a stronger rear axle with a selectable e-locker, The axle ratios are lower to accommodate the larger tires. The engine and transmission are the same.

 

I've had my 2017 TRD Sport Double Cab Auto for about 2 months and had no problems. I love my truck and would buy it again no question.

 

And the trailer jack is down

I have a 2016 Civic, EX-T. 30 K on the clock and I love it. However, I was at the dealer last week, there was a Pilot that came in, engine light. Due for 100K mile service. They told them it would cost 2000. Uh, what? Apparently there is some major surgery to do that service. Buyer beware. JMHO.

 

Yea, I noticed that but I took him at his word. I need to load up my trailer and the toys but I am not expecting any issues. My trailer is 1100 pounds, and the Honda Ranchers are 700 each. Had zero issues with the 2013 Prerunner and the 2016 4Runner.

 

I pulled a 4800 lb boat with my 3rd gen when I had it. It pulled it ok: ECT on and in S4

 

I found a comparison chart between all the Pro-4X models. They certainly load it up nicely, but I can't get i with a 6 ft bed. However, I can build the SV as a 4 door with long bed and then for $2k, there is a package that adds a lot of those options. The only things missing are: mud & snow tires, skid plates, first aid kit, navigation with a bigger screen, the premium radio system and the Pro graphics. There are different alloy wheels between the two, split spokes on the SV. The SV gets the chrome rear bumper that I want as well, vs painted on the pro. Both have the Dana 44 axle. The SV also looses the Bilstein shocks, but the payload goes up.

How bad is riding in the back seat on the crew cab?

 

It's pretty tight on the tacoma. My wife is 5'4" and she was uncomfortable after sitting 2 hours back there. Not really a road trip worthy back seat. Two car seats would max it out back there.

 

I agree! For short trips it's not bad, but for longer hauls it's pretty marginal for any normal size adult. My son is 5' 10" and my daughter is 5' 4" ish, and they are pretty cramped in the back seats. There might be a 4R Pro in my future...

1. long bed 2016 Nissan SV 4 door 4x4, lots of power, low short hood makes it very easy to see out of. Back seat is absolutely worthless. Very stable and quiet truck. I could not get the drivers seat adjusted like I need it. Seems like the steering is tight and takes a lot of turns. My wife really like driving it.
2. short bed 2015 Tacoma 4 door 4x4 TRD sport, lots of power, had the hood scoop and this was the worst one to see out of. Excellent back seat, drivers seat was ok. Not as quiet as the Nissan, brakes were very strong and touchy compared to the Nissan. Liked the steering better but didn't seem as stable as the Nissan. Didn't take the bumps as well. Less head room in the back seat, but ok. The cabin seemed more refined. My wife liked driving it but noted it was harder to see out of.
3. Pro-4X 2017 Nissan, lots of power, low short hood makes it very easy to see out of. Back seat is absolutely worthless. Very stable and quiet truck. The driver's seat was much better than the SV, maybe even better than the TRD. Seems like the steering is tight. My wife really like driving it and she said it took the bumps better.
4. 2017 short bed Tacoma 4 door 4x4 TRD, didn't notice any difference from the back seat to the 2015, still like it. Hated the drivers seat at first and then really like it after a few minutes. Very nice inside, refined, quiet. The motor is a turd compared to the others. I didn't hear any weird noises starting it four times. I never felt any vibrations, very nice ride. More shifting than the others. We took it out on a 4 lane road and set the cruise at 70. I was thinking this was our new truck and then we went up a slight hill. The truck kicked down to climb it and shifted twice. That was the end for me.
I asked my wife which one to get and she said she liked them all and can drive any of them, but she leaned on the Nissan. She wants the Pro-4X because she knows the seat fits me better and likes the idea of the better sound system. So, we are getting a Nissan and she said it's my choice which one. Do I give up the 6ft bed, chrome rear bumper, and less payload for a better seat, sound system, mud/snow tires, fancier wheels, Bilstein shocks, and skid plates? The Pro-4X is also $2200 more than the SV, but still 1000 less than the 2015 Tacoma and 6000 less than the 2017 Tacoma. Next is colors, she has it down to white, black, gray, and silver. I sort of want white, but figure that will be the lowest resale. I'm guessing black or silver would have the best resale.
