Anyone have any trouble getting your console lid to close after installing a vault? Mine acts like it’s just a tad from closing. But if I give it a shove or a hard rap, it won’t go. I remember reading somewhere, maybe not this site, of someone encountering the same issue and solving it, but can’t find it now. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have the Locker down in my center console. I had to add washers beneath the console lid latch so that it would latch closed.

Here’s the one I got from Amazon:

Now, it’s 16 gauge steel instead of 12 that a couple of the more expensive ones use. But that equates to a 1.1 mm difference in thickness. This safe weighed 10.5 pounds! I’m pretty pleased with it as it will serve my purposes well

I have the LD2047 Model console safe with the ExXtreme lid option from Lock’er Down. I had to contact them about the issue. They were fast to respond with what I needed to do. After I installed mine they updated their instructions as follows:

NOTE: IF THE LATCH OF THE CONSOLE LID DOES NOT SECURE INTO PLACE AFTER INSTALLATION OF THE SAFE, USE A PHILLIPS SCREWDRIVER TO REMOVE THE 2 SCREWS SECURING THE LATCH IN THE LID (NOT THE HANDLE TO OPEN THE LID, THE LATCH COMPARTMENT ON THE INSIDE OF THE LID). THEN APPLY THE 4 WASHERS (2 TO EACH SCREW) AND PUT THE LATCH BACK ON THE CONSOLE LID.

Actually mine came with the 4 flat washers. Just didn't know what they were for until I contacted them about the issue. I guess they knew the washers were needed, but hadn't gotten around to updating the installation instruction at that time.

The consoles seem so small to begin with, do these safes actually have enough room for a pistol? If so, what size? Will a full size fit?

I cut down the console organizer I had, not sure if I’m going to keep it. I can still fit my 26 and spare mag. So I’m sure that without it you can fit bigger.

I got 4 black #8 washers from Lowe’s. Still have to give a teeny push. Good enough for now. I may get one more for each screw later. We’ll see. Thanks!

I just ordered one of these bad boys. It's a keyed lock and 16 gauge steel, both of which I like. It's also $65. I'll update when it arrives. Thanks for the info, everyone!

I ended up changing the lock on mine to a key lock. What came on it was a cheap knock off pf Combi-Lock and it jammed up on me quickly, luckily when it was open

I switched from the combo to the key on my Lock'er Down as well.

Here it is! I'm impressed! Toyota screwed up one of the console mounts, but I go it in securely. It's great fit! No closure problem at all.

Will this fit a full sized pistol?

Standing straight up on the barrel at the driver side wall, my full size M&P9 is too big, but my M&P9C 2.0 fits just right. The M&P9C 2.0 feels really close to a Glock 19/23 size. I'll probably be mounting a subcompact, like a M&P Shield 9 in there.
