Single stage paint baby. The clear is mixed in with the paint.

On a side note, my buddy has 19 sport, super white made in texas. No issues at all.

I just bought a 4Runner. I stayed away from the Super White even though that's the color my wife really wanted. I know it's a minority of people having issues with the paint, but we have bad luck and I knew we would end up being one of those few.

I always hand wash my cars, hand wax them twice a year, and never use a pressure washer or drive through car wash. I wonder how many with the peeling paint use pressure washers or drive through car washes? Or dont wax them enough to provide a protective coating?

My paint was peeling on the inside edges of the fenders, other people get edges of doors etc. Its not an issue of poor maintenance.

Where i see a lot of the peeling happening with others is at the C pillar next to the rear passenger windows.

My 2001 Tundra had paint peeled on almost the entire bumper, chipping on the hood(Atleast the transmission shifted like it should, until it died at 150k) Dealer started to hem and haw about the paint, told him to F off and drove it as is. Loved when people asked me about it so I could tell them how shitty Toyota is. Also had rotors replaced 2 or 3 times under warranty for warping.

Apparently didnt take cause I bought a 20 Taco. Starting to have flashbacks.

I have a 2018 since (February '18) so it is approaching 3 years; I have been taking it through a car wash at least once a week (we get free unlimited monthly wash passes from work because we use our trucks on construction sites), in between I stop at our pressure washer behind the office at our work shop where we clean the construction equipment and spray it down, and I have never hand waxed it. Just don't have time for it. So far I have not seen any peeling concerns, but also none of the other concerns people have with automated washes and pressure washers.
    Maybe I am just lucky...

I didn’t originally notice mine there, but have since noticed mine peeling there as well. In the channel where the hood meets the fender, on the fender side.

Painter here. No worries if and when it peels. I’ll repair it. There is no paint on any of our vehicles out there. A lot of them don’t even have enough color on them. Next time you go down the highway look at side cast of cars. You will see blotchy patterns inconsistent coverage. It’s ridiculous really. Anyways have a great day Fam. Don’t stress on the small stuff.

Saw a guy posted this on Facebook yesterday on a 2017 with 123,000 miles based in AZ/CA. Seems to be happening a lot to the 2017's, not sure if it's just pure age and the others years haven't hit the same point yet, or if it's a problem for that specific model year.

Edit: Not sure if it's a factor, but he said his was manufactured at the Mexico plant.

Jeez. I had people give me crap over powder coat on $100 products that are older than 3 years. Kinda crazy that a $35k - $40k truck has this problem and people so easily just brush this aside as a non-issue.

Wax wouldn’t stop flaking. With that said, I’ve had my 040 super white for over 6 years assembled in Mexico and no problems at all.

Yeah it sucks not a big fan of white on any vehicle but wanted a manual pro and didn't want to deal with the constant upkeep on black so here we are now. Wonder if professionally installed ceramic coatings would help or just be a waste of money when you have to end up repainting the truck anyway...

White seems to be a pretty problematic color from lots of auto manufacturers.

Read through this and may have missed it but Toyota has recently added the Tacoma to the “problematic white paint issue” and have now put the ten year paint protection warranty on it similar to the other models with the issue.
