I was wondering the same thing. Was this the same time they changed 040 Super White to Ice Cap?

No, mine is still super white.
Either Toyota fixed the problem around the end of Sept 2021 or they didn't receive any complaints for trucks produced after that time. The latter doesn't make sense because not enough time has passed for problems to develop. I guess time will tell.

Yeah, the odd thing is Toyota says they don’t have a solution to the problem. They have only admitted that there is an issue and a fix is in the works. I would assume that this Recall? ……. Will be available in Canada. They have also identified the Model years affected and released a total number. I’m curious what criteria was used by Toyota for those number of Tacoma’s deemed affected.

Just guessing, but I think the solution is not identified yet because they still need to define the precise area to repaint.

Good news...Got a notification in the mail today from Toyota Customer Support Program acknowledging the issue. It says the specific condition covered is only for double cabs produced from a specific mfg facility with 040. There's also an FAQ section where it states that this is not a recall, but a Customer Service Satisfaction issue.

Yeah I'm guessing the DC 040 units manufactured in Mexico from 2016-2018 have been identified by Toyota as problematic?

Hopefully the folks that have to have the paintwork do can find a place that can get it as good as it should be. Also wonder if this type if issue would show up on CarFax???

Its not like they're going to give anyone a new truck. At most a paint job that is just a touch up and the rest of the paint will fall off in a year or two. No way they are going to sandblast and re-prime/paint 100k trucks.

Probably best scenario is just a check in the mail for affected customers. Probably have to be the original owner too.

Here's a $200 check. Thanks for your cooperation. Happy trails. Now shut up and leave.

And as far as the truck, the damage to the resell is done. Its probably always going to be a weapon for price gouging.

Get out of here with the negative BS.

For all of the other Blizzard White / Super White paint failures covered by the existing service program, Toyota stripped and repainted entire panels. Sandblasting? I can’t even.

In fact owners report Toyota power washed the vehicles to identify additional areas with paint failures. This is not “touch up paint” or a $200 check. No, the owner doesn’t get a new vehicle, but that’d be an absurd expectation. Toyota has handled these claims in a responsible, reasonable way in the past and there’s no reason to expect any different with this new subset of vehicles.

No reason to come on here with your glass half empty and make people on this thread feel like the service campaign will be substandard.

    Dreamers.

Ive had one company ever honor paint problems. VW repainted a Jetta that had the paint failing. The dealership covered the expense and it was not the best job. Any schmuck who knows anything about paint could tell its been repainted.

Id love to be wrong on this. My white paint is peeling all over. I just dont have any faith there will be a real fix.

You should probably just burn your truck then.
