Consolidated Super White 040 Paint Issue/Failure Thread - With Toyota Corp. Update

it will spread, keep monitoring it. Mine started on the drivers side passenger door frame, but is now showing on all door frames and the rear edge of the hood and leading edge of the cowl.

Just disappointing as a whole for this along with the historical roof paint issues.

 

Roof and paint happens with a lot of colors because heat is rising up from the engine and cab and the sun is beating down on horizontal surfaces. It's going to take way more of a beating regardless of color.

Has anyone with a Texas plant truck (VIN starts with 5) received a letter? or confirmed their VIN is included?

No letter here, and I haven't had white paint issues (yet, knock on wood) but was curious if the campaign is only Mexico trucks as some have speculated.

 

My 2019 is a Texas truck , no paint failure and no letter.

 

Mexico truck...dealer identified 60 places that can come off with painters tape. Still no letter.

 

60 places. Wow.

 

Texas (5) built and exported to Canada. No issues yet with my 2020 DCLB super white 040.

Got a letter from Toyota in the mail, thinking it was about the paint issue. Opened it and it’s a new campaign about a high pressure fuel pump odor/leak issue for 19-22 Tacomas and other models. I would sure hope my Mexican built 19 is covered in the recent paint notice. Definitely peeling more and more now under the hood, and spreading outward.

 

I received the high pressure fuel pump notice covering us for 10 years. I heard that Toyota's paint peel campaign was only covering a certain number of vehicles and vins initially. My guess, I think once Toyota comes up with a fix they will perhaps cover more and more vins affected.

 

Just got a Super White Tacoma, didn't realize this was an issue. Here's hoping I'm one of the lucky few that's not affected.

Got my letter from Toyota today about the Customer Support Program. I have a 2020 Tacoma. I see it says "White Paint Peeling on Door Frames and Front Inner Fenders". Are these the only problem areas? I was never certain where everyone was having issues.

 

that’s the most prevalent. Some people I think had hood issues. On other models that the paint was already being replaced, they use some tape to check other areas. I hope they will do this to our tacomas but currently it’s just for those areas

 

What number does your vin start with? 3 or 5?
