Mine came back after 2 weeks, body shop touched up a few areas but they did not paint the roof, after further inspections they put scratches on my door panels while taking them off to paint the doors.
then driving out i heard tire rubs, went out and they hit my car and the alignment is off so its back to them again with fighting words, hopefully they will make it right and fix what they messed up. the only iffy part is the alignment since I'm on 3 inch with 33's and its difficult to find a good alignment guy.
so I might have to take it back to my own guy when it comes back. My advisor guy is pretty good about giving the finger to how the body shop is messing up big time, but he thinks Toyota will roll out another remedy for the affected flaking areas to be repainted.

I just shot out an email to the GM there, told them the issues they did and make it right. Gave me a call 30 mins after email sent and said they'll get it squared off. 30 mins later advisor I trying to blame that my truck is rubbing due to oversize tires in which I told him it wasn't prior and the dudes you have hit something real hard to knock to knock the alignment off so try it back to top dead center

Got my truck back after 14 days (including weekends) and I’m more disappointed than mad, but not surprised keeping in mind I had the work done at the dealer. The good- they matched the color pretty well honestly and they detailed my truck inside and out. The bad- they scratched my tints a little on both rear doors and they didn’t paint the door handles so you can tell paint difference between handles and doors. The Ugly- look a the the edge right above the seal, did they not sand and just paint over the flaking paint?! Wtf it’s like that on all four doors, and only in the top, the bottom is smooth

This is from 2 years ago when I put touch up paint over the flaking paint and it looks like they just painted over that

I would take that truck right back. It's hard to see everything when you pick up a car from a shop, it's rushed no matter what.

They should just offer anyone affected $2000 or something and have the owner sign off. No matter how much touching up they do, new areas will start peeling. The only solution is a full body-off paint job and they aren't going to do that.

Thats one of the more widespread ones I've seen on here. Does your VIN start with a 3 or 5?

The vin with 3 has more issues. You can bring your issues with Toyota and they'll jump in and tell the dealership to get their act together or tbr GM there too. That's what I did and they said they will square it alway but I'll see when I get it back 2nd time

I got approved and my truck is currently getting paint work. I'm not putting too much faith in them going above and beyond. I noticed the peeling near the window frame on diver rear window.

I feel like I have so many mods, Idk if they will do a thorough job. The only areas they re work are fenders and doors?

They only did my doors and fenders and the body shop touched up some other areas that's ok looking. The roof they said no because it's not in that 23TE08. But so far they are inspecting and recording data and may likely do another phase. But who knows.
Other than that hopefully they don't damage other things while getting repair like they did to mine. I am picking it up today and if it's not the way it was before I'm taking it up the ladder

Soliciting advice from the crowd here. My 2022 Super White SR5 started peeling around the rear drivers side window late last year. I took it to the dealer a few times and got a suspicious runaround. I finally spoke to the service manager who told me Toyota was denying my CSP claim, but that they didn't have any more detail. Well, I finally picked the case back up recently and Toyota Brand Management is telling me my VIN isn't covered. It's a 2022MY quad cab, manufactured in Baja on 10/2021 and the VIN starts with a 3. The peeling looks exactly like the photos in the CSP.

I've complained to the dealership service manager and Toyota Brand Engagement. What other options do I have?

They could do a goodwill repair. Aside from that you have to wait until it gets expanded. These things are firmly locked down by VIN and manufacturing date. Maybe your truck is too new.

I took mine back because I told them they just painted over the flaking paint instead of sanding it down, the advisor called the painter over to see what happened and the painter looked at the truck and told the advisor “tell him to bring it back next week, we need to repaint all four doors” then I mentioned to the advisor that they damaged my tints also and he said “I guess we have to fix that, I’ll give you a call next week” so I’ll be waiting for a call I guess

I'm looking at a white 2017 access cab with 5 vin. The truck is super low miles and the price is a little high. Wondering what my chances are of paint failure? Would suck to buy a "new to me" truck and have the paint shit the bed.

Not sure. However most with failures have their Vin starting with a 3. Mine is a 2020 with a vin starting with a 5. Been perfect so far. No guarantee of future success unfortunately.

Finally got a call this week that I would be able to bring my truck in next week for the paint fix. Originally, I was supposed to be scheduled for March/ April but it keeps getting pushed back, the rep said that Toyota put a pause on things to evaluate what they will cover. When I first scheduled this, they had told me they would paint wherever the paint was peeling and do a test with painters tape to see what areas are not bonding to the primer, after that, only what they can see is peeling would be covered. Now, I am being told its only the 4 doors and 2 front fenders. My truck is peeling on every section of the truck! Seems pretty stupid that Toyota wouldn't just repaint the whole truck so they can move on from this issue. I already had them paint 1 of the doors 5 years ago when I first spotted it.

Based on reading other peoples experiences, sounds like some dealers are willing to do the whole thing but most are sticking to the service bulletin. Should I hold out longer to wait for Toyota to issue a full paint fix or just do the doors and hood fenders now and bring it back in the future?

I recently called my local dealer to inquire about the paint recall on my 2017 super white and they gave me an appointment to bring it in the next day. I brought it in May 31st and they had a body shop guy look at it for about 5 seconds and ask if i received a letter in the mail. I said yes and showed him one of the letters. He looked at it for like 2 seconds and said ok and then told me to park and the told me to bring it back in to the dealer on June 9th. They said they would only paint the 4 doors and the front fenders. The A pillars, roof, hood and everything from the cab back would not be painted. I have sever paint damage on my A pillars and my roof so its kind of unfortunate. Will update after I drop it off again next week. (Southern California)

Took mine back after they incorrectly painted the truck the first time, the advisor said toyota also approved to paint the pillars, so they will repaint my 4 doors and pillars. He said in order to paint the pillars, they need to remove the bed, rear glass, and windshield. I have sub and amp behind my rear seats hopefully they don’t mess that up as they said they’re not responsible for anything aftermarket including window tints. He also said hood and roof repaint will probably get approved in the near future
