So they are going to send another letter for the pillars, roof and hood?? Or is the dealer doing this out of their courtesy or it's Toyota?

I was told the pillars were approved along with doors and panels by the manager, which I’m assuming the manager got approval from Toyota. As for roof and hood he said another letter will go out and then we would have to get on the wait list again

I purchased two vehicles new on the same day in late 2017. A blizzard pearl Highlander, and a (040) super white TRD-OFF-ROAD. My VIN starts with a 5 and (06/17) date (TX) I haven’t noticed the peeling others have, but this last year I was applying some UV protectant on the plastics. I used blue painters tape along the top edge of the tailgate. When I removed it, it took a strip of paint with it. The only other spot I have noticed is the top corner of the bed on the passengers side. I need to look over the wife’s car, she did mention something about her paint. Damn!!!

Went in last week and was told they would not be getting to any 2019 vehicles until the fall as they are doing the earlier years first and working their way up.

It might just be individual dealers then, but I went on may 27 and they didn’t mention anything g about the pillars, then I went Monday and they said they’ll do them

I went in yesterday for my appointment to drop off the truck.(Actually my 2nd appointment as the first one was apparently just a consultation to see if they would actually accept doing the work on mine.) I showed up and was told that my appointment was not through the dealer and rather the body shop that was working with the dealer to do the work. I was told the rep wasn't at the dealership and that I needed to call him on my own. I was not told this when I sat down with the rep at my last appointment and he took down my info/scheduled me for my 2nd appointment. I called him and he told me that he wanted to get in contact me but did not do so because he didn't have my phone number(this is false because he specifically asked for it and wrote it down on his computer). He then told me that they no longer do the work at the dealer and that I had 2 options. I would need to either have them pick up my truck from my home/work or I could drop it off at another dealer 10-15 mins away and they would pick it up from that dealer. I then called the 2nd dealer and they told me they couldn't guarantee that I was eligible for the paint recall as my vin didn't show up on their system as being eligible. I let them know that I had already been approved by their body shop rep and I had received the letters in the mail saying I was eligible. They said they understood but that they couldn't guarantee anything unless a service rep could confirm it for me.(none were available or answering the phone when I called).

This process is such a hassle and seems very unprofessional to me from my local dealerships.

Was just at my Toyota center to pick up our 2020 SR5. It was dropped off late May, so approximately 3 weeks. Toyota using an outside private autobody shop nearby. I visited the shop to ask about some extra touch up work and to simply ask them to take care of my kid's truck that he is near paying off, bought them lunch. All I can say is disappointed today, some spots looked great, like very nice work, but as I looked closer imperfections seen in the new paint, drip marks and pitting, new paint over old touch up paint, poor sloppy install of vinyl door trim, and with all my growing frustration, realized they never replaced the Tacoma or SR5 emblems. The extra work I paid for was completed poorly, I could have done better. So, obviously Toyota is paying for repair, and centers are organizing, however there is zero oversight for the actual work, each shop acting with their own procedures. I guess some of us may have a great repair and experience, others not. Our Tacoma is being returned to the shop, they promise to make it right. Why not just do that the first time......

Wow, all this is so depressing. My 2022 is white, VIN starts with a 3, paint code is 0040 made in Baja. I have no issues as yet. I did have the truck ceramic coated. Probably won’t help though. Have not received a letter of any kind yet. The worst part for me is I specifically asked for a white truck. How stupid am I, like shooting myself in the foot. Ironically the white paint on my 23 year old Yukon is pristine.

    • Went to pick up my truck after the paint fix and it had new damage. Ugh, and they did not address the a pillars. So it’s going back to the shop as that was not on the intake pictures. But I’m trading it in regardless as I’ve lost faith. Not going to stay with white even though I like the color.

So they did my driver side door only, I feel like the color is more off white and doesn't match the rest of the truck. I also noticed same issue on the passenger side fender. I'm going to take it in for that as well but my concern is what they might say about my snorkel and trimmed fenders? Will they refuse to paint it? the peeling is totally unrelated to either thing as the peeling is on the line where it meets the hood. I will post a picture later when I get home. Anyone take there truck in with these mods?

    Our 2020 is done…for now….
Was sent back to shop after poor first repair. Returned to Toyota again and had to to go back again to body shop, so 3 times at shop with multiple quality inspections. I had to drive it there myself and speak with the owner of the shop to get items addressed.
Toyota may be paying for this, but what you get completed is anyone’s guess. Look out for yourself and your truck.
