Got it back after taking it back for the second time. They re-did 4 doors and A pillars. Took 3 weeks. Everything looks fine this time, other than over spray on wheels and a little over spray on 2 floor mats.

UGGGH! Im getting so fed up with this issue. Took it in for approval back in April 25, dealer is just dragging their feet on the issue (mine is peeling on 4 doors, both inner fenders and A post}. As of May 20th I filed a complaint with the engagement center, who appeared to actually sound genuine. Finally asked them if I could go to another dealer, they even set me up with one, took it in they said should get approval within 4-6 hours (original dealer said it takes 3-4 weeks, then 4-6 more weeks to get an available loaner). Dealer calls and says they wont approve it because first dealer has open claim. Going to take the district manager to fix the issue who only comes in once a month. Im just about done with Toyota, dont think I will stay with the brand anymore, too many ongoing performance issues that suck like trans shifting, now the timing cover leak they want $6k to fix, now paint. Bottom line I dont think they want to address this issue IMO

I have a 2022 TRD Offroad. I took my truck into the dealer to see if this is part of the paint issue. The dealer stated that my VIN isnt part of the paint issue. Any advice on my next steps to get this resolved. The paint is peeling at the upper portion of the side windows (rear).

    Thank you

They sent another letter around end of June for the pillars, I'll probably wait for another one supposedly they will for the roof.

Late to the post, but my brothers 2021, did a little inspection yesterday, peeling on the front quarter panels. Bubbling between the bed and cab. IMG_7863.jpg 602969123425185025.jpg IMG_7864.jpg

    BEFORE:
I drive a 2017 White Tacoma with all the ordinary peeling issues like you guys. My truck has been at the Toyota dealership collision repair center for 20 days and is scheduled for completion today. We will see how it turns out. I have peeling on 8 panels (some panels not covered in the original and most recent "Remedy Notification" as of today). Our dealership has quoted me for painting the additional panels to have a complete job: roof, 2 back fenders, and tailgate. Bumpers are not being done and not expected to ever get covered by the Notification per dealership. I've decided to get these additional panels done for an additional charge (about $500 per panel) and then charge these back to Toyota as the Notification continues to expand. Our dealer expects the Roof will be next on the official Notifications. This may be a bad strategy... but I didn't want to risk having multiple rounds of paint and partially removed panels and paint work. Hopefully I'll get most of my out-of-pocket covered over the next year.

Before I dropped it off at the dealer, I coded and marked all of the peeling areas and photographed everything. Here's a few examples of the way I documented the project. Let me know any other advice or warnings you guys might have from your experience. Good luck with your trucks! Cheers!

    AFTER:
Got the Tacoma back today from the dealership collision department. The paint is gorgeous. Everything was painted except the front and rear bumpers (with about $2,300 out of pocket for the additional panels that were peeling). Dealership said there are 4 additional Tacomas in the shop right now going through the same process. My truck took 23 days from drop off to completion. Dealer provided a rental through Enterprise. A few things I noticed for those of you getting yours done next:

    1) Check your window tint. Mine is damaged on all 4 doors at the top where they removed trim. (this is also mentioned in some previous thread entries, so it's a pattern) I'm asking the dealer to replace this.
    2) Look over all of your interior door trim to be sure it's attached securely. I found a section on the rear pillar that was not fully attached.
    3) I had the crummy (and broken) fuel door fixed/replaced and painted while I was at it (paint was peeling from the door). There was a parts fee of about $80. It may be a good opportunity to get that done when you take yours in.

Otherwise, so far so good! I'll keep this post updated as I ask Toyota Corporate to reimburse for those additional panels if they get included in the next round of Notifications. Cheers!IMG_5974.jpg IMG_5982.jpg IMG_5975.jpg IMG_5988.jpg IMG_5993.jpg

Just now falling victim to this on my 2018 TRD Off-Road.

    20250727_210007.jpg 20250727_205936.jpg 20250727_205953.jpg

The front edge of the gas cap and the edges of both front fenders at the base of the A pillars are peeling up. My phone camera couldn't pick it up well enough for a photo, but the clear coat has totally failed on both front fenders between the top of the wheel wells and the hood. I assume since none of this is what's mentioned in the letter I'm out of luck...

The front fenders are covered in the 040 Paint Notifications. They usually peel under the hood on the inside of the fender... but that looks like you're having the similar issue just in a different section. Gas door is not covered at this point. My truck had the same issue on the gas door.

Just got a call from my local dealership they won’t cover anything not in the letter. My hood and bed of the truck have very consistent paint chipping similar to everywhere else. Has anyone had any luck getting them to do more or has anyone heard of a pt2 of the program to cover more of the body?

My update 7/29/25. Brought in on 7/14 picked up yesterday 7/29. They painted both front fenders, A posts and all 4 doors and jams, installed all new weatherstripping, emblems and any molding. detailed and buffed out the entire truck. I was impressed with the quality of the work. They were telling me Toyota is constantly upgrading the covered areas. If one door has lifting paint, they automatically do the entire side. Maattccuuss, hang in there, pretty soon that could be included.
