I tried something on a 300 mile round trip today. I used the constant speed control. Along with the ETC, during the trip, not once did my engine downshift to go over 3,200 rpm. This was an area I have driven through dozens of times. I always end up at over 4000 rpm several places. Has to be a coincidence right? I even had a 300 pound bandsaw in the back on the way home. 150 miles back from Roanoke, VA to Ansted, WV.

So, normal CC mode and ECT, and the truck held 5th and 6th gear better? Normal highway speeds?

BTW, a more descriptive thread title might get some input from others who have tried similar.

Speed limits were from 70-40. Most of it, 75%, was 65 or 70. I did the speed limit during the trip. 4.0 Off Road model with 3” lift and 285/75/16 tires. Got 19.5 mpg. West Virginia and Virginia so lots of hills.
