The Tacoma does need to be refit, needs better interior options, but I'm not looking to shell 40k for a midsize so a decent interior is all i need. The last thing I would buy a tacoma for is to all my family around.

I kind of take the opposite opinion on it. It's a pretty good family vehicle for trips with skis, bikes, boards, kayaks, teenager and a dog. It handles that much gear well, and mileage is not effected that much. For towing a trailer with machinery or my Miata on it, it struggles. If all I did was tow/commute/wheel, I'd go with something different. As is, it's a pretty good all-rounder.

I disagree, I think it's a pretty good all around vehicle. For the money I paid for my Tacoma limited, I could have bought a full size truck, but didn't. I prefer the smaller size of the Tacoma, and I find it more then fits the needs i bought it for! F#@k Consumer Reports!!!!!

CR was off base because they wanted the Taco to drive like an SUV. An SUV is neither Sport or Utility. Its a frakkin station wagon for soccer moms. If the Taco resembled that I wouldnt be in one.

You know what's Consumer Reports' ideal pickup truck? The Honda Ridgeline. Really makes you question their editorial judgement, doesn't it?

It makes me question their expectations, that's for sure.

The Ridgeline is not a truck that can be lifted and wheeled. But it is more refined than the Tacoma and has more payload capacity than a Tundra.
    Ridgeline payload: 1550 lbs
    Tundra DC: 1450 lbs
    My Tacoma DC: 1050 lbs.

CR is full of cow dung. I deal with there opinions every day in my business. They only give you what they feel is important not relevant. The tacoma is a midsize Truck! Not a grocery getter. Not a sunday track car. Not a pack the family in and take a three day road trip. It's made to get shit done. Sure, there's a ton of room for improvements that won't jack the price up like Breaks, sound dampening, transmission mapping. They will redesign it here in the next few years. But with everyone down sizing full sizes. Im not sure were the tacoma will fit in

Pretty accurate in my eyes. Honesty hurts sometimes but it is mainly due to it being out dated really.

If we roll back to 2005 and compare it to other makes/models of the that year it would be on top of the list.

This design is getting long in the tooth, hope the next all new design is leaps and bounds better. It seems like they are trying to get 10 years out of this generation, which is pushing it.

Like it or loathe it, (Consumer Reports, that is) many will take this information and make use of it.

I.E., I would bet that eventually thier ratings will affect our fantastic resale values if the Tacoma doesn't stay on top.:(

What CR thinks of the 1st gen Taco and the Supra. Resale values aren't hurting on either vehicle...

Honda is not a real truck. It is a car with a bed. Some HOAs around Dallas prohibit the parking of pickups in driveway in front of house but exempt Ridgelines so it must not be a real truck

Every word C/R said about the Tacoma is true. Of course the Ridgeline rides, handles & brakes better than a Tacoma, it's a freaking Accord!

The people that make a decision solely off of C/R should be shot. They only represent a close-minded opinion which is usually geared towards plush ride and perfect car-like attributes which they love to apply to ALL vehicles. If they reviewed ATV's they'd bitch and whine about those as well for not having a nice ride and having handle-bars instead of a steering wheel.

A miata more fun to drive...:laugh::laugh: Wow.. If that doesn't say biased I don't know what does. It's like saying a Chevy Aveo is more fun to drive than a corvette. Wow, can't believe these people. I guess they haven't seen the current value of a used supra.

^CR expected the depreciation on the Supra to be similar to the Tercel. Though I think a certain Vin Diesel movie may have disrupted their projections.
