I just went through all this bu!!$hit on the Ridgeline Forum about comparing the 2...No F!@#$%^&** way...

    Different platforms,different needs.....and I own both ; 2007 Ridgeline and a 2002 Tacoma....

You have to take EVERYTHING in todays media and throw your OWN INTERPATATION into the mix....

Yes Toyota is Behind on re-designing their mid-class BEST SELLER....BUT I totally agree with the KISS analogy............Seems Toyota does too....

I can go back to my '85 Hilux and find similarities to my '99 Taco, then onto my '02 Taco for minor changes and then jump up to what you 2nd gen owners have earned ( or lost over my 1st gen..)

Change is very hard when something just will not DIE.....If a Company trys to re-invent and fails ..BA-BOOM...

Ok off soap box...everyone enjoy their night and their TOYOTA's:p

    OK..."I don't regret my purchase"

Go buy a 30 thousand dollar domestic truck, and trade it in in 2 years...and get back to us.
    Tacoma owns the market segment.

Then, in short, don't post ignorant shit about why our vehicles cost what they do. It's a lot less typing for me that way, and apparently you already know what you're for some reason not posting

Edit: FWIW, I agree with you about union labor.

This message is not because Larry has no one on his ignore list. Because Larry realizes it's the world wide web, full of perspectives...and Larry is not offended by others opinions. Even if Larry does not agree with them.

Been there, and I don't regret it. I don't care for leather, power/heated seats, sunroof, LCD in the middle of the instrument cluster that shows a Ford advertisement on startup, etc. All the gadgets in the Ram and F-150 will break in a few years. The Tacoma/Tundra are still leaders for reliability. I bought my Taco for reliability and off-road capability.

It's important to note Consumer Reports rated the 1st gen Taco poorly as well. They also call the T100 a "full-sized" pickup. Also note their laughable review of the Supra. Consumer Reports is simply out of their depths with anything other than a family sedan. They've been that way for two decades.

    Toyota lost me after 05.

No offense to anyone, 2nd gen Tacomas just don't have the Toyota truck feel.

I'm shocked by the Nissan beating it out. The Ridgeline depends on what you're buying for, hard to go wrong with a Honda, it's just not a truck imo. But the Honda's are high anyway so I don't get that either.

I considered buying a Frontier, mainly due to price. I had always wanted a Tacoma or even a pre Tacoma so I figured I needed to drive one after looking at the Nissans, never looked back. I didn't like a lot of things with the Frontier, not to mention the dealer took me for a test drive when I made it clear I wanted a 4x4, got on the road before I realized it wasn't. They didn't have one on the lot. A little off topic but still, once I drove the Tacoma I was done considering the Fronty. No comparison imo. Even when I could have got a little more for the same money, leather and sunroof.

    That's just crazy imo.

the Ridgeline is a real nice vehicle. I believe it's front wheel drive until the rear kicks in. and I think it has coil spring rear. that's why it rides so nice.

Honda calls it a truck. but it's more of an open SUV. but I see plenty of them towing and doing light truck duty...about the same as a Tacoma.

I drove one...and liked it a lot. I may even own one some day. It will never be an off road vehicle like a Tacoma...and is not marketed that way.

meanwhile, I'll enjoy my Tacoma.
