That was kind of a goofy review. "mechanical roar of the V6"? No, no, the 4.0 had a roar to it, the TRDOR 3.5 I test drove had more of a buzz note.

"Stumbling zombie . . . Clumsy handling" C'mon man, WTF were you expecting, jeez.

The 2012 I thought was actually pretty nimble for a stock truck, did very well with emergency lane changes at interstate speeds. The '05 Tundra I'm driving now was a pig with emergency lane changes at highway speeds until I put the Hellwig rear sway bar on it. I've heard that $200 rear sway bar on a Tacoma does wonders also.

Such is the way a "spirited" thread goes right before it kinda goes away, we end up talking about the weather, exchanging recipes,etc;...

So why doesn't CR or any trade rag rate the ease of user maintenance and repair? Pick all fluid changes, battery, spark plugs, filters, drive lines, brakes, etc. What about cost of ownership over 5 years? I have subscribed to CR for longer than many of you have been alive and feel they have their place but not in everything. What "science" does CR apply to vehicle reviews that others don't. Do they have professional drivers on the staff like C&D, R&T, and MT? My 2010 scores bad in the long term scores for electrical. That stems solely for a squeaky fan motor. That was a piece of cake repair yet many would think the whole truck would short out. Look at all information from all sources before buying. I still don't fully trust CR as the final word on vehicles.

CR verdict: It drives like a truck so we don't recommend it. Do they realize they're not reviewing a sedan?

Slacker.... :p...Ok on to make more useless, inflammatory post, but will caution others that the soil is fertile right now for TW hammer swinging....Have a productive Saturday & in the words of the most interesting man in the world:
" I may not always swing the ban hammer, but when I do I aim for the cheap seats."...

This was a good summary and I completely agree with it. So get off your Taco fanboy fat asses and look at the impressions realistically.

The Taco is credited for a lot of things, a car it isn't. Nearly half of Taco owners say they use their trucks off road and all love the reliability but wanted better economy.

The 3 G fits that bill. It can't also ride and handle like a Camry. Deal with it and don't take things personally just because you have invested $40k in a truck and expected a car.

    Consumer Reports is spot on.
. Take a lesson from Jeep Wrangler owners and enjoy the truck for what it is as well as what it is not...a freak'n' GM product. If you want something that rides and handles better, buy a CRV and cut the rear half roof off. Stop whining.....

Well now.. .all caught up! Boy this thread took a crapstack 6 pages ago! Nice to see everyone in agreement - the Gen3 Taco is a truck and rides like one.
    I'm glad I bought the gen3, I wanted a 4x4 pickup truck.

I didn't need to read CR to know what I was test driving and don't need to read CR to know its a fun truck to drive.
