    .
Biggest problem with Japanese vs US car companies .... i.e. ... Toyota vs GM and Honda vs GM is:

The Japanese have better quality vendors than in the US and US companies don't like to buy from Japanese vendors ... i.e. Denso, and etc.

Many parts in a vehicle are vendors supplied items and the Japanese have the best "vendor supply chain" in the world... especially for the money.

Plus the Japanese add a special sauce (more pride) when they make a vehicle ... look at Japanese vehicles made in US vs same vehicle made in Japan.

If Consumer reports or JD power had great things to say about the Turd Gen people here would be singing them praises of credibility. Let's be honest, regardless.

My father is a dedicated Consumer Reports subscriber, I can forgive that now as he will be 93 in May, however over the years while visiting him I have endured many CR reviews of classes/types of products with which I was intimately knowledgeable--99.44% of what CR has said in reviewing those products has been biased, uninformed, jabberwocky.

While it may be true that they are not influenced by advertisers, they sure as heck seem to be influenced by (or maybe under the influence of) something. In particular I have observed that whenever a product becomes the standard against which similar products are gauged they seem to feel it is their duty to pull it down a few notches--sometimes more than just a few.

It may be that in their "obviously superior" position (as opposed to that of we gun clinging deplorables) to evaluate vehicles it is time for Tacoma's to be put in their place...

My father used to subscribe as well back when I worked at an electronics repair shop in the 90s. I often skimmed through the sections of items we had experience repairing. Would find obvious faults in their testing or rating brands far apart from each other in whatever benchmark despite them being made by the same manufacturer (RCA vs GE vs Sears LXI all made by Thompson).

I don't find it much different from some Amazon reviews, you find someone rating an item poor for a feature you could care less about or possibly prefer.

That is not totally true, my buddies ex wife used to make wiring harnesses for vehicles, she made them for all makes and models and not some special stash for Japanese Vehicles.

...^^^... was speaking in general from past experiences.

We used to do MTBFT (Mean Time Between Failure Tests) and the Japanese vendors were constantly getting better results. Germans had good results (but much more expensive), but Japanese had the best, especially for the money.

It may be somewhat different today with the "QC Gap" closing.

And I could see where wiring harnesses would be more generic in nature.

CR is a waste of time. If I want a credible review, I will test ride one myself like I did and decide for myself.

Someone with a some talent and a lot of time should create a fake CR review website for the Tacoma, post it here and let all the "people" praise on how CR hit it out of the park with their review. :D

It is human nature for the most part to discredit those opinions we disagree with. It's inherently compelling to defend our decisions, particularly the larger financial ones whether that's buying a truck or investing thousands into modifications.

I purchased my Taco last June.I was looking at Ford and GMC, the thing that swayed me was the 2016 used GMC sitting on the lot. Fully loaded 4door 4 wheel drive with 6100 miles, asking price $41,000. I could have purchased it for just over $39,000. It listed for $55, 635 new and here it was on the GM lot for $16,000 less than msrp and not even a model year old yet. Some resale value.

It's pretty well known that you can get MOST domestic trucks, brand new, for 20% less than sticker if you know how to work a deal. If you pay even close to list price for a domestic truck, you're stone stupid.

Agreed, add to that Nissan trucks. They are currently offering 10K off many models of the Titan up here just as rebates (not including more discounts through negotiation) and you can easily get thousands off the Frontier in rebates closer to fall (again not including more discounts through negotiation).

Try to get that kind of deal from Toyota :tumbleweed:. In part, no wonder their resale is so high because people are paying close to MSRP (and in some cases MSRP and above MSRP for TRD Pro's) on these trucks. Who was the last guy who got $5K or even close to that off a new Tacoma?

    Hahaha. Nice one.

Ok, so honestly; a company has been chosen to build the machine specifically designed to save YOUR life. Do you choose GM, or Toyota?

    Honestly.
