Would agree with you on the GM part - since they tried to cover up the faulty ignition switches on GM cars and subsequently fought it tooth and nail in the courts, they can forget seeing me ever inside a GM showroom. That's what they think of their customers.

Come on man, Toyota had their own cover up with the whole "sudden acceleration thing". All companies do this so please don't act like GM is the on.y one.

    Voice of reason.

CR is accurate it just happens I can live with what they don't like. I can't live with the statistical data that shows poor reliability on the Tacoma compared with other 2016 products. I'm hoping TM gets their heads out of their ass before they screw up the T4R.

Is CR wrong when they recommend 75% & 78% of Lexus & Toyotas other products? Those are some of the highest numbers in the industry.

I'm no Toyota fanboy but on the sudden acceleration thing I'm totally confused.

Here is one article that states:

Department of  Transportation released the results of its study into the blizzard of reports that various Toyota and Lexus models were accelerating out of control. The DOT concluded that, other than a number of incidents caused by accelerators hanging up on incorrectly fitted floor mats, the accidents were caused by drivers depressing their accelerators when they intended to apply their brakes. “Pedal misapplication” was the DOT’s delicate terminology  for this phenomenon.

And if you have time an excellent podcast that investigates the whole sudden acceleration thing in depth.

And yet ABC reports in 2014 Toyota settled at a 1.2 billion dollar fine.

    http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/toyota-pay-12b-hiding-deadly-unintended-acceleration/story?id=22972214

I'm confused - why pay the fine if it's all bulls!t.
