If that were the case then their list would not be loaded with Lexus and Toyota Models, it has to do with a fucked up scoring system as the Tacoma gets low ratings for riding like a Truck and they don't like the seating position.

I agree, I don't care what CR claims, I looked at three midsize trucks before I bought my truck. I ordered my Tacoma and I love it, there.....I said it ok, I bought a Tacoma (and LOVE IT), I hope (no, don't care) if CR thinks i'm wrong! They're wrong, yeah, that's it, they're wrong! :yay:

I've got a VW bus with the original 40hp engine and I have yet to cause a chain reaction crash when merging onto a freeway. And the payload of the bus is higher than your truck's. Maybe you're doing it wrong?

I for one am not a Toyota apologist. The 2.7 SR is an embarrassment for Toyota. The 2.7 last made sense in the second gen single cab.

What do you want Toyota to do? Stick in another motor from the Avalon?

How about the 2.5 out of the new Camry for starters. Toyota is going to need to up the specs on their base trucks. My local dealer doesn't even want to bother with bringing in 2.7 SR models because they don't sell.

Better than the competition doesn’t mean anything when the competition is crap.

We’re free to like what we like, but the Tacoma is an average vehicle at best.

Consumer Reports haven't liked the Tacoma for a long time now. They also don't like the 4Runner and they didn't like the FJ Cruiser.

Why in the world is putting a car engine in a truck going to help it sell better?
