The ironic thing is my wife thinks the truck drives like a car, which is a plus (when on stock suspension).

Only real complaint I have is the gas mileage sucks for a small truck.

I like this shitty truck so much, I wouldn't care if the 2016 were exactly the same as the 2008

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
My Taco isn't perfect, and I agree, the seats suck and sometimes the stiff ride isn't very accommodating, but I wouldn't have any other small truck. Couldn't give me a brand new Colorado for my Tacoma. Yep, it's old, dated and rough around the edges, but it does what I need and I trust it and even 11 years later, it still looks damn good compared to all these new trucks running around. Tacomas age well if you take care of them. I love it when I get mine all cleaned up and shiny, black is one of the finest looking colors on any vehicle when it's clean.

Not sure how the bus driver would react if I ask him to swing by Home Depot so they can load pallet of bricks to bring to my place. Also never seen a winch on the bus and that's what 2wd vehicle needs in winter to get to my place.

For a base model full size truck. A 2014 4x4 TRD Off Road crew cab cost me $31,500 with 52 miles on the ODO back in July.

The lowest F150 crew cab 4x4 is like $37k. The only thing that brings a full size down to the price of the Tacoma is dealer incentives like $6000 off MSRP because they can't sell it. The only way to bring a Tacoma off the showroom floor that is the same price as the full size is if you get the TRD Pro.

I'm too lazy to read all the previous posts, but I just read the article. Am I the only one who wants Toyota to bring back the 95-04 models? Damn all that fancy bubbly crap. Car companies keep trying to "simplify" things, but all they're doing is making them worse. KISS = keep it simple, stupid

So... isn't the price of the F150 4x4 $31K if you count the cash on the hood? That pretty much makes the point you were arguing against. In fact, cash back can be immediately applied to financing, which makes the financed cost lower than the Taco.

And did you really just type "they can't sell it" about the best selling vehicle in the country?

I'm no Ford fan, but your logic seems a bit off here.

Fortunately I (family) have a few different autos, my wife's highlander drives and rides great( bought it for those qualities). Did not buy either of my tacomas based on ride(it is a truck). Did not buy my 3/4 ton 4x4 based on ride or amenities. Consumer reports need to judge trucks on being trucks, not being compared to a Cadillac.

Remember that every midsize truck by nature of their size, pretty much sucks in the accommodation department. People with fat flabby buttocks will love full size Fords and Chevys. It's hard to fit them into mid size trucks with full ladder frames and still make them ride acceptably. The Colorado is a big improvement just like the Taco will be and just like the 2005 was. Tacoma will just never match full size trucks with the expectations of lardo car buyers who can't get their fat ass in or out of a mid size truck. CR cators to the American expectation.. Between half to 3/4' are over weight including nearly 1\3 obese, depending on who you believe. But it is a factor...a BIG one in car and truck buying.

I like the idea of having a quiet enough interior so the voice recognition can tune in my favorite satillite station. Seriously, I would rather have a newer, quieter truck and talk on the phone using bluetooth then be fumbling with a handheld while drifting from side to side at 20 mph under the speed limit like some efin drivers of older vehicles do. I know, they should just stop and call, but wtf does ? Newer vehicles ARE safer and the new Taco will be too.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with liking an old vehicle design

Car hit the nail on the head when comparing 2015 model trucks

The Tacoma design is leftover 80's and 90's

    It ain't 2015

I respectfully disagree. I think the Tacoma is a really good looking truck.

I test drove all 3: Tacoma, Colorado and Frontier.

Tacoma had the most interior room. Colorado seats were low to the floor like a car, so seating comfort went to the Tacoma. Frontier had the heaviest steering and worst ride. Colorado and Tacoma handled almost identically, but the Colorado has easier steering, that was its only up side. For 6 grand less than a Colorado I happily took my Tacoma, only feeling like I gave up a few mpg's.

The only thing this article was right about is high step in (easily fixed with a step bar) and weaker braking...I admit rear drum brakes are a very outdated thing to have on a modern truck.

What really made me laugh is the comment that packages put it into full size price territory. The author clearly had not priced a full size truck recently...to go similarly equipped on a Silverado or F150 was over 10 grand more than I paid.

But when it really boils down to it, the article is just an opinion piece. Anyone can agree or disagree. If you read the comments on the article most of them are calling BS on the fact that the Tacoma is on the list.

Maybe a little off given my truck is no longer stock nor drives anything like stock, but I do find this report to be funny. My dad who is now in his early 50's despises firm riding "sporty feeling" rides and over some bumpy roads and some mild terrain up in Lake Tahoe heading up to go snowboarding and skiing, said that the truck rides surprisingly well considering it has been modified. Even in stock form, the truck was a lot of fun to drive. I don't think one person I have given a ride to in it has complained about it once come to think about it. Both before AND after modifications.
