I replaced my OE bridgestones with Mich LTX MS/2's, and would highly recommend them. The OE's made it to 67k, now have 48k on the Michelins and can accurately predict they will last far longer. They have much better wet road traction (the OE's felt unsafe to me on wet roads, almost from new). Gas mileage is about the same for both.

Not much on the 07 yet. 18 is gone, but was a greata truck. TRD Pro grill, Gator FX3, Homelink mirror, Black out badges & exhaust tip, Remote start. Future TRD exhaust, skid plate.
Obviously, it is a Tacoma thing, and they are not going to understand.
They love the Honda Ridgeline, so there is no accounting for taste.

Read between the lines: "lowest scoring" or "oldest scoring"? I think CR is really taking issue with the 10 year old 2nd generation design, as opposed to Chevrolet which has new designed trucks out and Honda which will have a new Ridgeline here shortly. What the 3rd generation Tacoma bob back to the top of the list in 2016, just because it is "new", if nothing else.

I had a Ridgeline before I got my (second) Taco. I miss some of the comfort of the Ridgeline, but not when I am off-road, which is why I bought the Taco (used).
The reason I had the Ridgeline in the first place was because I could not afford a recent enough Taco to have safety features I wanted after I rolled in my first (1999) Taco at 65 MPH. I didn't figure I would walk away again if that happened again, so the safety features sounded important. The Ridgeline did not have the resale value, and had the safety features earlier, so I could afford it used.
But I just returned from a 3 day trip in Death Valley. Getting there and back, The Taco ride and handling sucked, and it took too much gas (so did the Ridgeline), but going down the Lippencott Mine Road, and other rough spots in DV, the ride is supposed to suck, and I sure liked my Taco.

WTF. It's not for everyday driving, it's a 4WD truck. Geez. And the Frontier is rated better?

Clearly the CR writer has never ridden in a lifted Jeep Wrangler with 35's.....I had one for many years. That IS a chore to drive and rides like you'd expect. The difference between that and my Taco is night and day. Granted its a solid axle front end but I'd get to work and hear ringing in my ears from the road noise and generally high winds up here in North Dakota. Like those before me CR is POOP in their review.

I'm quite surprised the Tacoma the got lowest rating. First I wonder which one they drove because the SR5 suspension sucks but they said a punchy powertrain so that leads me to V6 I have the 4 and it is not punchy unless it's compared to a prius. Secondly it's a truck, they admit it excels at being a truck so how do they come to lowest rating? As for the high step in are they kidding? Was the person writing it a midget? I'm 5'9" and the step in Stock is perfect. I have mine raised 3" and its still not the worst I've been in. Uncomfortable for daily driving.... I can't agree with this either. No its not Mazdas sport seats but I can take long trips in this without my back begging me for breaks and I have back issues. Clumsy handling.... For this one I'd have to see what they were trying to do its a truck is has limits but I seem to push mine around sharp turns at decent speeds with no issue. I will admit I am no longer on stock suspension but even before the 5100s I was speedracer in my little truck. I've had mine for almost 3 years and have put over 65k miles on it. I do not agree with most of their assessment. The only thing I will agree with is the bouncy ride in the SR5 stock. It rides like a truck stock if you want sports car handling get a Mazda.

I think the reason the tacoma rates so low is that not many people use their trucks as trucks.... and when they do they are worried about scratching the paint.

    Exactly my feelings.

Coming from a 2000 Tacoma, this 3rd Gen feels like a friggen spaceship with all the comfy goodies....electric mirrors? comfy seats? List goes on and on....I cant believe how luxurious this thing is AND ITS A TRUCK!

I don't understand the complaining about comfort and drive. The only thing that is not a "10" for me (besides the R-D delay), is how my elbows fit on the door and center console. I can live with that!
