Fuckin-a... This is why folks can test drive and do their your own research. How many different cars and truck are offered on today's market? We can easily get the one that fits you and your needs, pretty dam simple IMO. :duh:

About the only thing I look at with CR is the historical long term problems chart. They put too much scoring weight into things I don’t care about (can’t talk politics in TW). Real person experiences, resale value, and frequency of repair are my decision makers.

I guess thoughts of longer seat bolts and a varied stack of drilled out fender washers is well outside of the CR thought process...

These trucks are notoriously lacking in simple things compared to other brands. Toyota's only selling point for a while has been "reliability and resale value". Don't get me started on the new Tundra missing simple stuff like a tow hook mount....

I find the competition have better OEM A/T tires. Some of the Jeeps have a front locker. Taco should offer one in the Pro and/or possibly in the Off Road model too.

Other brands seem to have 8-10 speed transmissions that would probably help the gear hunting issue, but maybe reliability would go down????

Other than that, I prefer the simple reliable route that Toyota takes.

Drum brakes on the rear of a 2022 truck is laughable and only Toyota can get away with it because of how die-hard their fan boys are. They have been using the same flexy swiss cheese frame since 2005 lmao. After driving a 2022 frontier the difference is night and day, and this is coming from someone who will only own Toyota's because i'm sold on their longevity/reliability as well as resale value. The frontier had better seats, more powerful engine, and a better frame.

I don't mind it at all as it's only a once every 50k thing and my rear wheels aren't covered in brake dust constantly, but it just speaks to Toyota not getting with the times / lacking in the most basic of stuff just to save some money.

I'm no fan of CR, They have a history of blatant lies.

In the early 90s the Suzuki Samurai was outselling the Jeep Wrangler. Then CR's brilliant journalists decided to rig their rollover test to an extreme extent and deem it unsafe. Sales dropped right off and Suzuki pulled it from our market.

I make my own assessments when making large purchases. I don't need some pencil pusher to tell me red tow hooks are important.

I have it on good authority that the editor-in-chief at Consumer Report's wife left him for a man who drove a Tacoma. Hence they shit on it:D

I believe Dodge and Jeep are now an Italian and French company? They both were American companies when we changed our oil every 3,000 miles. They are now no more “American” than Toyota and Honda.
