So the 2022 is going in for paint correction and ceramic coating, my installer is offering me $800 for full front and hood STEK ppf, my last truck was peppered from highway driving so I’m contemplating it.

Two questions, how many have done it and think it was worth it?

And my guy says the front valance since it’s not painted surface and not part of the cutout pattern won’t get ppf, I remember this being speckled to sh*t those that did ppf did you do that too?

I don't have PPF but I do have a Sport with a painted valance which would get speckled. Is this possibly what you saw? Yours's, being an OR won't have that problem.

After a year and 13,000 miles I have 1 chip in the hood and around 1000 in the lower doors and rockers! I would first look into covering that area if the option existed.

Even with an off-road it gets pitted real bad.

I did my entire front and love it. If it wasn’t so expensive I would do the whole truck. $800 seem like a good price too. Also, they do not to the lower lip (black part). They do the fenders, hood, mirror caps, front headlight lenses and all around the grill of the painted parts. They even put one on the emblem in the grill. All templates precut.

Same here, bottom of my doors are terrible. Also in front of the rear wheel is all peppered, and that’s with sliders and mudflaps.

Im thinking of applying PPF on the rocker panel, bottom part of the doors and bottom part the box.

No it's a truck. Throw an unpainted buper from an SR on it.

Look at all the demo vehicles sales people drive with out PPF, they aren't worried about the paint, and they plan on selling someone that vehicle as new.

My 2017 had just about a foot onto the hood and the paint held up great until I got rear ended at 70mph! My 2022 had it as a factory option I couldn’t remove and it covers the entire hood. I’m glad I have it. I’m cheap so I might not have paid for it if I had a choice but I’m glad it’s there.

My paint will do what it does. No ppf here.
Um, I wash it every few months.

I’ve had ppf on several cars, imho it’s great when done properly. I’ve been looking into it for my new Tacoma and seems prices have significantly increased around here. Hard to justify $2k for film on a truck, covered all the sensitive bits of our Volvo for about $900 in 2019 (hood, bumpers, rockers, mirrors, fenders). Painted metal surfaces subject to debris are the priority for me, but it all depends on you. Hood, rockers, rear front fenders are the best bets IMO for a truck. If your mirrors or bumpers get nicks or chips it’s no big long term issue. I’d vote for it.

My 2020 looked fine besides the hood had a good deal of chips and front, so I'm considering those areas. I did rockers on my 2019 and ended up with chips with my -12 offset anyways above that area, I'm all stock now so more concerned with rocks on hwy commute, but also still at end of the day a truck, but 45k miles in my 2020 had alot of touch up spots lol.

Do Tacobuffet!! I know it is expensive but if you plan on keeping your truck I would. When I bought my 19 Z06 had whole car fully paint corrected and fully wrapped and ceramic coated. I was going to have my 21 LunaRock tundra pro done but decided not to because don’t know if I will be keeping it.

Weird both my guys said because it’s not painted it’s not part of the pattern and not sure it will adhere or look weird. The guy who did my 19 said he doesn’t and the guy who is gonna do my 22 is apprehensive about it but mentioned using matte for that area.

Mine certainly hasn't after 6 years. Sure, the other painted surfaces have chips and marks, but not the front black valence; it could pass as new.

Impressed, I guess its the hwy driving / winter salt-mix. I didnt have discoloration, but it definitely has some pitting from road rash, my 17 and 19 were same way.

I'll probably keep this one at least 4 years, we'll see, I think for $800 its not a bad investment and I'm always a bit broken when I wash the truck and find a new chip.
