If you PPF it, I think it has enough texture that it would end up looking weird. Either way, if that part ends up looking like shit, it's only $90 for a new one and easy to replace.

I have been tinting for years and just recently started dabbling in PPF. Personally did the install on my 22 SR5. $800 is great price for the full front end + hood. But for that price there's no way it's the full hood. Likely 24" or maybe 30". I wouldn't touch another one for less than $1,000 - Tacomas a lot of work.

The lower valence (black plastic) would not be a part of the pattern. PPF will not stick to the textured plastic. The upper valence (painted) will be covered.

That's what my detail guy said, and we didnt do that on my 19 when I ppf'd, so I'll skip it and like you said just swap it if it looks like trash down the road.

Wow - if that's the case you can't go wrong getting full XPEL for that price. See if you can add the A pillars as well; I'm glad I did mine.

I got mine done with XPEL.
Full front end, hood, A pillars, fenders, front 1/4 of the roof and lower side doors/rocker panels.

Mine s a TRD OR, i didn't do the black valence portion.

I think it's worth it as I live in Alberta where they use rock/salt on the roads for winter. Winter/Spring time is when there's a ton of debris flying and your vehicle can get destroyed in one season.

some guys will say just use a paint pen, wait till it's absolutely trashed to get the whole truck repainted or "its a truck, just treat it like trash"
Imo paint pens don't exactly match and with enough paint pen touch ups it'll look like shit. The other two camps of thought I just don't agree or understand.

Agreed, I went no PPF on the 2020 and figured, eh I'll just paint pen, well it never matches and up close was just blobs.
