Contemplating Tacoma

I've been reading through this forum and decided to start up a profile.

Very much contemplating trading my daily driver (2012 VW Passat) for a Tacoma, the vehicle I've always wanted from the get-go. In particular, I'm looking at a 2005 TRD Off-Road SR5 with 171,500 miles and a clean CarFax with regular maintenance. Normally, high mileage vehicles scare me. However, based on my readings, a lot of you are getting your Tacos over the 300 and even 400k mark without so much as the standard fluid changes and some basic replacements.

Any chance I could get some input? I was also worried about the rusting frame issue, but I reside in the Austin, TX area where snow and salt are not an issue.
