I kinda figured that on both counts. My '69 was flat black when I bought it and a similar color of red after the post-rollover rebuild. It wasn't a Mach 1 though, just a SportsRoof. The car got me a date with a girl who drove a '67. Married her. We still have her car, but we sold mine. That hardly seems fair.

Yea I remember that, it was a good read. I’ve read of someone else doing it with a quad and they needed to clean the entire fuel system and rebuild the carb. The sugar really gums everything up.

Simply that the power increase comes from the engine control module changing timing because of the presence of octane.
    Probably not a good analogy...

This is true but with that being said the lucas oil octane booster works in these trucks or at least for me it did

It's interesting that high octane gas is actually LESS explosive (or perhaps less volatile) than regular gas. But I see what you mean. The engine adds advance because the less explosive gas is less likely to pre detonate, creating more power.

Isn't there an Internet forum law that requires for every octane argument there should be at least two follow up arguments concerning brands of oil and/or oil viscosity?

    Stay away from Pennzoil.

The zero weight stuff is fine.

2GR-FKS in the 3GEN was designed for octane ratings of 91 or higher (see attached). Running lower octanes retards the timing. Using an octane booster could very well increase performance.

Yes 91 octane is stated, but what rating? I would bet the 91 octane stated in that service manual is RON, which is the rating used everywhere in the world except USA and Canada. 91 octane RON is the equivalent to 87 octane in North America which is 0.5x(RON+MON) which is what the owners manual calls for.

The manual was obviously written to North Americans. “91 or higher” American seems most likely.
