Controling frame rust?

Sinse I am looking for another 1st gen Tacoma a Big thought struck me.

Once some of these Tacoma’s (1st generation) had the rust protection done ( IF, they did) in the early recalls, just how good is that protection!
Anyone really know for sure?

Is it going to last 10 or 20 years or maybe 2 or 3 !!!

I plan on doing a lot of mods to the one I will be getting and I wouldn't want to dump a load of money into it if it's not going to last. I haven't heard anyone question this so I figure it is a major issue.

Now I have been hearing that some of the 2nd gen Tacoma’s are experiencing the same rust problems, and Toyota won't cover them !

What is the "Best" undercoating methods, what’s it cost, what kind of guarantee do we get with it?

 

por15 is an option.

 

Not that I know the best way to coat them but ive read some 1st gens that got the coating have had rust issues after the fact. Not to many if I recall...Just dont buy one with a history of being in the salt belt

Once it starts it doesn't stop. Por 15 actually rusts from the inside out. We used it at work and it looked great from the outside but under the por it was worse than when we started. I use a product called lps 3 rust inhibitor. Definitely slows it down. Nice breathable coating and makes the frame look new
