    I just bought a new 2012 Tacoma trd sport and the truck is great other than that the USB connection only seems to allow me to control the iPod through the stereo. Is there a way around this other than changing it the head unit? Thanks

    That is how most usb connected iPhones work. I would say it is a safety thing.

    What model iPhone and what firmware are you running?

    The only way to disable the "accessory connected" splash page is through Jailbreaking and installing a Cydia app called "NoAccessorySplash".

    I can walk you through the Jailbreak and setting everything up. It's free and easy to do. I have it done on my 2nd gen iPod Touch and have been using it for 2 years like this.

    I have an iPhone 4s. I'll try running the jailbreak again and try the app. Thanks for the help guys. Using the phone is so much more convienent than using the head unit. I'll try it and let you guys know.

    I found the app called noappsplash in the cydia store. I tried noaccessorysplash but it didn't work. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. All good now.

    So, it did or didn't work?

    There are either two or three versions if I recall correctly, make sure you get the one that corresponds with your firmware. It should be IOS5.

    Good to see you got it up and running.

    NoAccessorySplash was for pre-iOS 5, while NoAccSplash is for iOS 5 devices.

    This tweak is pretty much the main reason I jailbroke my 4S.

    you have two options;

    1. Navigate to whatever song you want THEN plug it in. (this works on everything i've tried but i haven't actually tried it on my truck yet.)

    2. just use the BT and you can even control the volume and use the phone up to about 30 ft away. (great for camping!)
