I call bullshit on TCCN dude saying if the internal tube ever comes out of the housing, you just need to throw it away and that’s that, or you’re risking serious engine failure. I’m supposed to believe that little spring is calibrated so precisely for this bypass valve, that simply taking it out and putting it back in the same position (which is exactly what needs to be done to switch to an aluminum housing) somehow makes it not work anymore and will cause oil starvation. Hmmm, don’t think so.

Not to mention, as a tech working on other people’s cars, we’re expected to believe he knows the history of everyone’s bypass valve springs? He inherently knows when someone removed and replaced it at some point in the past, and that caused engine damage at some point in the future? That’s pretty unbelievable.

That coil spring isn't the bypass valve, it just tensions and seals the drain valve. This flat clock spring locking thing is the bypass valve, and would not be harmed by removal. Alot of misinformation for someone who should know better.
