The LED headlights were first offered in 2020, so yes, 2019 and earlier did not have that option.

The one piece I do not have at present time for LED to TRD harness is the female H9 terminal. I do have the connectors, just no compatible terminals. So that’s something I would need to source somewhere.

The rest of the parts I have.

A local member with a set of RX350 retros may lend them for comparison testing next weekend. Will be interesting to see how the data stacks up to OEM LED.

If I’m not mistaken, @bacon_st has this setup in his truck? Am I remembering correctly, Alex? If so, they were subjectively impressive to my eyeballs. Quite curious to see hard data though.

Thanks in advance, @crashnburn80 , the work you do makes my wallet so light it almost floats.

IDK who designed the head lights on the new Supra Toyota or BMW? Either way those are some nice headlights. Retrofitting the LED projectors or reflector housings, what ever they are. Would be a nice headlight upgrade on the 3rd gen Tacoma.

Who would be doing the testing? Could we get data such as how wide the beam pattern is and what lux at the end? It would also be nice to see which has the most usable light within that width. Like which one would better help spot a deer on the other side of the highway.

In post #11 of this thread I recommended you read the 3rd gen lighting thread where @crashnburn80 evaluates various headlight options. Since there is a wealth of information in there, I suggested starting with the OEM LED review.

I think it might be awesome if you did this so you can familiarize yourself with how extensive his testing is. He spends hours on setup, data capture and final write up using repeatable methods and calibrated equipment.

I will, it will be the same format as all the other headlight reviews with comparisons to the other headlight options.

Would you be willing to add beam width to the mix? OEM Halogen, OEM LED, RX350, and possibly the XB Morimoto housing (if still in your possession)?

The site provides emoticons for a reason. I think you are crazy to contemplate taking really good LEDs and retrofitting Halogen sucky lights before you’ve even tried them.

    Better?

sure. Criticize me for exploring options based off my desire and preference that go against the grain and your personal preference, while adding nothing of value to an otherwise successful conversation and being a tool about it. :duh:

Well, I have the lights you don’t like and you haven’t even tried them. Seems like the definition of crazy to me.

Sorry for offending you by wanting to do research, having a preference for an aesthetic that you don't like even though the data supports your preference being the superior choice, and trying to have a discussion. You are right, I was wrong to want halogen housings even though I haven't tried the LED ones and I appreciate your faith in my ability to obtain a Tacoma.

There was Avery recent thread in regards to switching leds into halogen housing. The op was dead set on how good it looked. Crash and burn couldn’t convince him it was wrong, despite graphs, pictures, explanations etc. the coolest thing was someone I think they must actually make retro headlight displayed the wall which they used to make adjustments. I know you aren’t intending on putting leds into the halogen housing but I’m just saying it was quite a battle until the thread got shut down.

That isn’t quite as easy as it sounds. I also no longer have the OEM LED units or 3rd Gen Morimotos in my possession.

That guy low output fog LEDs in his halogen projectors, pretty different story.
