I was just mentioning as it got pretty heated and I was thinking about how emotional the op was getting, not listening to reason. Agreed I don’t think this op is in the same boat.

Thank you for your patience and willingness to converse about this subject.

This post was never meant to be a divisive topic. I well understand that the OEM LED outperform the halogen. There is no question about that. There is no debate that putting a LED into a halogen projector is a very unsafe prospect. All I wanted was to know if there was a method to convert a LED equipped truck to a halogen for my own personal reasons. It was never about which produced the best light. I am thankful and grateful that there is a wealth of data comparing the 2 light sources. I truly wish there were more people who enjoy looking at data as it is fascinating. My original question has been answered and I have been provided more comparative data that I could never have hoped would be available.

I apologize for lashing out to Crispy. I should have just ignored them but I didn't. I respect that you were fortunate enough to acquire your Tacoma and that you have the lights that you prefer and that you seem to be content with your purchase.

Just to be super clear, OP, I’m personally 95% of the way there but short on one terminal. Not sure if @Puppypunter has built one yet. Should be doable but not there today. I think I’m the only one with OEM grade H9’s. I don’t technically have H11’s but it’s just the green insert that’s different.

Once you explained the retrofit, your reasoning made plenty of sense to me. I wouldn’t pull an LED for a retrofit for various reasons (level of effort, warranty, efficiency, DRL, etc) but I can understand why someone else might do that.

It will be wonderful to see the data once @crashnburn80 has it. I’ve learned so much from him.

All of those are very valid reasons and ones 100% worth seriously considering when the time finally comes. I appreciate you humoring me with my speculative request.

My previous 2017 OR came with halogen. They were so lame it’s hard to believe they even passed DOT standards. I had to install Morimoto HID’s to make that truck tolerable.

Fast forward to present day and I have a 21 OR that came with OEM leds on the headlights and fogs. They are perfect and with the stock suspension, the cut lines aren’t blinding anyone. Nice and bright. I’m not sure, but look to be 6000k color.

I’d recommend using them 3-6 months before you change anything.

My solution, don’t drive in the dark. I have yet to drive at night. Got the truck 11/2020.

Think of all the extra money you could save not driving in the rain too. Bulbs and wipers get expensive :p

You could sell off those headlights have some fake nascar like stickers laid down and voila couple hundred dollars richer. I personally try not to drive during rush hour. Any excuse to drive at night though.

Dang, a lot of hate for not liking the LED lights!

They're white. White light blows in the snow - I have a much warmer amber light (H9 conversion) that cuts through the snow with the longer wavelength. They're dreamy in the winters. Can't do a seasonal conversion when you're running the LED lights so - No thanks from my end either.

PS - You aren't paying a lot more for them, when they come on the truck it's like a 450-500 add on, when aftermarket they're about a grand. So. Definitely worth it if it comes from the factory and you want them.

Advice though - if you can wait, wait. Buying a new Tacoma now is shenanigans. It was ahead of the all the shenanigans but is still shenanigans.

So I just picked up my OR yesterday. I wanted Army Green but ended up with a Midnight Black, 4dr short bed, 6MT, with halogen lights. Needless to say, wow, the halogens are awful. Retrofit will have to happen soon.

Sorry for late reply, not here a lot.
I have dual RX350 mods done on my headlights. I'd be happy to show them, pretty happy with them.
