    I have a quick question.

Could the 1st Gen Tacoma with power windows be converted to the auto up/down power windows like the 4 Runner?

I bought a 4 Runner and it has this feature, kinda of like it and thought of trying to rob the module from it to convert my Tacoma, if possible.

Also, I pulled the RS 3200 brain out of the 4 Runner and gave it to a neighbor for his and the key fob still works, beeps when locking and unlocking. Makes me wonder exactly what the RS3XXX actually does and if the ECU doesn't actually control the keyless entry.

I would think its all self contained within the switch controls but not sure if the wiring will just plug in, you might need to splice in the 2nd gen plug for it but I see no reason the motor has to change since its the switch that does all the work to tell the motor when to run.

try your 4 runner switch on it and see if the plugs match, if they don't then use jumpers to connect and if it functions you know what you need to do.

personally I don't like the auto up down because I often have the windows partially open and on my 2014 chevy with the auto up/down thing I cant get it to stop where I want so its always trying to go up or down instead of stopping where I want it to. it drives me freakin crazy I cant put the window where I want it to be without playing tippy tap on the switch for 2 minutes

The switches look identical, when the daughter gets home with the Tacoma, I will try it, if that is all that it needs, that would be kick ass!

It is not as simple as you think. I started doing the same thing, but have been side tracked recently.

You will need the driver and passenger switches and need to run wires to connect them for the auto feature. You may also need the window motors from the 4runner since they have built in sensors to detect objects in the way of the window.

When I hooked up the driver switch it would auto up/down 4" then stop. I haven't had the time to diagnose what is causing it to do this.

My 2002 has auto down on the driver's window... so based on previous comments, could a drivers side motor and switch be added to the passenger side door to get auto down on that side (might just need the switch since there is no auto up, heck I could try to flip the plugs on the switches and see what happens on mine)? I wonder how the double switch wiring would work however for the passenger side.

This arrangement would just provide auto down though.

No that will not work. The relay that controls the window auto features is built into the passenger side switch and requires the correct window motor (it has 5 wires instead of 2). The passenger side 4runner switch and master switch work together. I tried it with just the driver side master switch and it would not work.
