hello everyone, first time around here and finding it extremely helpful!...quick question, I got a 2010 double cab 2wd prerunner..currently live in sunny LA but theres a high chance I might move back East and go play in the snow again and where a 4x4 is a must...can anybody or has anybody ever converted their 2wd to a 4wd?Any idea how much it might cost?...i imagine it must cost a couple grand if not more...i wouldn't do it myself most likely would go to a professional...or will it be a better move to just trade it in for a 4x4 once im back east, ?..its a newer truck with only 27k miles and got 4yrs left of payments. ...thanx for your time and help!!!!:D

General consensus is cheaper and easier to trade in for a 4x4.

I've only seen ONE 2nd gen 4x4 conversion, and it was actually on one of our runs a couple weeks back. Sick truck, but the price tag on the conversion was in the 5 digits.

i would imagine it would be expensive, but you could go by a pick and pull and get the t-case and other parts from a wrecked 2nd gen. my cousins talking about doing the same thing if he gets a prerunner now.

Gonna have to agree. Trade up. The time and money probably isn't worth it.

but mind you, he had full manual transfer case, crawl box, etc. There were like 6 shift knobs on his center console.
