What the actual fuck are smoking up there... I really cant tell if you're trolling or just ignorant... What are the obvious reasons you arent a fan or ARB's? Please tell me how the 8.0 rearend is "an all around upgrade" that is better than the 8.4. I never said this job was impossible or hard, thats why i posted the link to the wiring harness, its relatively easy actually but again what started this is you wanted it installed by the dealership to maintain your warranty...

Swapping the whole axle is a relatively simple process, I did it on my Offroad to get the 8.4 before I regeared and put in Harrop Elockers. The truck my old axle went into got the locker wired up using the harness previously mentioned.

I'm just confused about all the different things you've referenced. What Tacoma has stock 3.79 gears? What truck do you currently have that you want an OEM locker in?

I have an 8 with a 3.73.stock no lockers. The way I see it an 8.4 is beefier than the 8. The gearing stays the same . I don’t need a better ratio .just adding lockers with the correct axle to accommodate the 8.4.

Elocker axle is 8” ring gear.
Your current axle is the 8.4.

There is no oem elocker for the 8.4 though 40 year ASE mechanic, that horrendous ARB or similar locker is your only option on the 8.4.

Whoops sorry about misprint on the ratios earlier in the thread. I never said the 8 is better than the 8.4.
Ignorant ! Wow haven’t heard that since the 60’s.

Well than according to my vin and the dealer I have an 8 with a 3.73. When I pull the axle and count the splines I will do the math to confirm it.

You’ll never make up what you’ll spend on parts from the dealer in resale. That’s some ridiculous thoughts you got going.

Why do you think the extended warranty would cover something that didn’t come on your truck originally? Just because it’s an oem e locker doesn’t mean they’ll cover, it wasn’t there to begin with.

Well for starters I be replace many OEM upgrades on many vehicles and the dealers have always warranties them. Secondly for the dealer the upgrade is still a part they sold meaning money. If they didn’t warranty it why would anyone buy their upgrade when you have the after competing with them.
