Hello I was wondering if any of you have ever successfully completed or know anyone that has successfully completed converting a tacoma from manual door locks to automatic locks (preferably with a keychain). I did some searching around and I've found this:

    http://www.a1electric.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=AEOS&Product_Code=W01C-712T

    and this:

    http://www.a1electric.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=AEOS&Product_Code=W01F-712T

but I have no idea which one, if either is the right choice for me, or if any of you guys know of a better one. I have the 95' DLX (2.7L, 4x4, manual). No power windows, no power locks.

I bought a Viper 5002 alarm/keyless and Directed actuators and sensors. I have not installed them them yet so I can't give you specifics yet.

I installed a Viper keyless/remote start/alarm in my Dodge Ram and can tell you it will spoil you rotten. No fishing for keys and hunting the lock after dark. Fast entry and lockup. Insurance discounts.....

Where did you buy your kit? assuming you bought a kit that is

p.s. ive been reading a ton of threads on these forums trying to learn as much as I can, I just noticed there's a recall on 95-00 tacomas where they buyback your truck. I just checked out my frame on my 95 tacoma and it looks really good, phew! Then again...if it was bad I'd probably be screwed anyways cause I bet you have to own the vehicle for a couple years to get the buyback.

You will not regret adding the power door locks even if you have to spend the money to have them installed.I put a full python alarm, remote start, and the door lock motors in my 96 and love it. They also make simple alarm and keyless entry systems that allow you to add the aftermarket door locks too. you won't regret it.

Looking to upgrade my 96 too.

For those that upgraded to power locks, which kits did you use? Specifics help.

Did you use the one from A1electric mentioned above or another kit?

The kits listed above are good kits. Avital is made by directed electronics who in my opinion makes the best alarm systems like viper, python, sidewinder etc. You can buy a kit like that or just use any security/keyless entry system and buy the door lock motors seperate. just be aware that aftermarket door lock motors usually need relays to work with keyless entry system.
