I want to change the map light in my 06 Taco to a red or blue LED for providing some light in the cab without destroying my night vision like the bright yellow stock cabin lights tend to do. Has anyone replaced the bulbs for a colored bulb or colored LED? My other thought is to drill a small hole and mount an LED bulb and a small switch from the backside in between the two push-on map lights, just in front of the temp. gauge. Thoughts on this?

I have red LEDs for my map lights. Works great and have had ZERO issues! Visibility is not a problem either at night in cab. And yes got my bulbs off superbrightleds.
