Within a few days, I will be removing my XDI Cold Air Intake System from my 05 Tacoma PreRunner 4.0. The XDI has been a great system but the foam liner inside the center opening of the TruFlow filter is finally breaking down. XDI has been out of business now for awhile. I have ordered the Volant Cold Air Intake System that no only includes the air box assembly but also a air intake scoop that replaces the raiator shrould support and it is tubed to the air box as well. Does any one out there have this system mounted on their 2nd Generation Tacoma? If so, are you happy with it? I have tried for weeks to find a replace filter for my old XDI system but no luck. If you are looking for a new cold air intake system, if you go to Volant.com you will see some amazing videos. NewLevel.com has the best price on the Volant system with air scoop.

I installed mine a couple if weeks ago, i'm really happy with how it's set up. The closed box keeps it so the cold air only comes in from the fender well and scoop attatchment. Although you might want to buy something to seal where the intake connects to the filter inside the box because that is the only open spot where you could suck hot air in from the engine bay. I used the shiny ducting tape to seal that opening and it's holding strong. The 5/8th breather hose they give you isn't long enough to go straight to the manifold and I had to use the connector they provide but wasn't happy with the placement so I went and bought like 3 ft of new hose to make it one piece. Also hose clamp EVERY connection, I re-used the snap clamps and ended up changing them out.

Extra parts you should have in my opinion so you aren't switching shit out after. Unless your 05 is somehow different than my 06. Good luck on the installation, feel free to pm me if you need any assistance!

Thanks for the tips! I have some AC "duct tape" to seal the air box where it connects with the hole in the fender well and uses the air flow to the Throttle Body. I assumed that you had to reuse your original breather hose. I didn't know you got a piece of 5/8 hose in the kit. From what I understand from Volant, the same kit is used from 05 to 011 but the kit is different from the 012 and 13 as it allows for original "air pump" from those years to be mounted on the air box. I am still awaiting shipment of mine from "NewLevel.com". Does the system sound super bad?

They include the rubber tube sealer strip for the fender well, only open spot is the one I described. If by super bad you mean good then yes. Gives a nice seat of the pants feeling
