lol. an 18 y/o gets his dad to co-sign a brand new $50k+ truck "for reliability reasons", dad posts here to convince him not to make stupid decisions...

my first car was a 1994 chrysler lebaron convertible. "because girls love convertibles." i had plans in my cardomain page to v8 swap it... a car that is already a terrible '90's front-wheel-drive chrysler, with the chassis rigidity of a warm hotdog... of course, that was $2400, and i wasn't allowed to drive it until i paid my parents back the entire purchase price of the car...

your kid is a normal 18 year old. as an 18 year old, he's going to make a number of idiotic decisions. the trick is to either financially cap him from accessing those decisions(a 2023 truck is not the answer here), or make sure he's living on his own, paying his own bills and ruining his own credit if he insists on continuing to make those idiotic decisions.

Thats awfully nice of you to help him that much. I dont think hes going to learn anything until he gets to make more mistakes and actually live with them. Let him lift it and let him deal with the circumstances.

Or at least make him pay you off the loan before he does it.
