No. Mods delete political posts, so you won't see it unless you ask them and they decide to show it. I saw it and was going to warn him, but @T-Rex266 is too quick. At least TWSS. :p

Should have taken a screenshot and reposted  kidding

Rules are rules, I’m assuming the comment was bad enough to warrant the ban. But it’s a shame sometimes. Give an inch, they take a mile… but I would be willing to bet this mystery will go unsolved once ban is complete.

I figured someone would get banned over this thread. Just didn’t think it would be OP.

Close this one on down. We’ve seen enough.

If a kid is not yet independent and living on their own, being responsible for their own life, finances, housing, food, then I'd disagree. The transition from kid to adult, including earned and given responsibility is important, and confusing a kid by parents switching roles at their whim is harder than a parent being dependable.

    But as you say... YMMV

That right there is the best advice. As a young adult, as soon as I got my truck I went straight to websites like CarID and started making big lists of crap that I wanted to get. Then after I found this cash draining website, I soon wanted to go full long travel. Then SAS, then back and forth for over a year. Thank god I was relatively broke, because that's given me lots of time (a few years now) to really listen and see what other people have done and learn from their successes and failures. I would be kicking myself so hard right now if I was able to just start throwing parts at my truck as soon as I bought it. The way I ended up building mine was taking advantage of opportunities when they were presented. Tires worn out? Go all terrains. Animal strike? Get a metal bumper. Shocks worn out? Get a lift (not a 6" monstrosity). Long road trip? Get a shell. If he really does want to spend money though, I'd at least convince him to start with skid plates or bolt on sliders if he wants to offroad. The last thing he'll want is to destroy the underside of the truck or put huge dents in his rocker panels. You may tell yourself he's only doing mild stuff, but it only takes one accident.

I get him wanting to lift the truck, but I do think you have some say in it since you cosigned for the truck. maybe you can find some middle ground. a good 2.5-3 inch lift with some 285's will get you everywhere you need to go, not break the bank, and lessen the chance of major wear on parts and issues with warranty. It sucks that the guys who put the big ass lifts and ugly stretched tires on wide ass chrome wheels give hawaii guys a bad name. not all of us wanna spend all that money on a mall crawler with rubber band tires that will never see the dirt. A good portion of hawaii guys are happy to have a capable truck to take us hunting, fishing, camping, and still get us to work on monday.

Yes, make sure he looks like the 70 year old guy in the neighborhood with a stock taco, who goes to Lowes to get red mulch for his lawn...while he wears black socks, and workboots, and thrills the ladies with a plastic sun blocking nose cover attached to his no side glare bass fishing glasses cuz of his cataracts.
