2.5” OME lift, Koenig Six Shooter wheels, 275/70r17 Nokian Outpost AT, CMC, Nitro 4.88s, Greenlane aluminum sliders, CBI aluminum skid, Greenlane aluminum front bumper, Out Gear Solutions HC rear bumper, Baja SAE fogs
I see that now he has more than 50k. That’s good. But still, my point is he’s complaining about his son modeling his own behavior.

He's not. Others are. He just asked for help convincing his kid not to lift it. That was it.

The OP will be back. The OP was warned early that staunchly defending against every truth stated about the family behavior could result in a "forced vacation" but continued anyway. No doubt the OP who buys brand new ORs for people he cannot trust to not break them, and earns less than an 18 year old without a college education (on the first job ever) after years trying to build a career himself ... this person insists on living in a fantasy world. I can say this because I drove a 2007 Corolla for years until I moved to a state with enough outdoors driving space to warrant buying a truck. And I do have cash for it, but financed anyway to keep my cash around ... did not need a co-signer.

If the OP gives an expensive truck to a person who has decided to spend probably every free dollar on tricking it out to take it to risky places, the OP will be learning an expensive lesson soon as well.

I couldn't get my drivers license till I was 17. Parents said I'd be too irresponsible. They didn't approve of me racing bikes either at that age. At any rate got a job after school, and earned enough to buy an old broken down 66 cj5 jeep. Parents were not too happy when I had that jeep towed in their backyard where it sat most of the summer....I don't think the neighbors were either.

Funny ... knowing "what" or even "technically how" does not mean you also automatically know "when appropriate". Do not ask me how I know that.

OP made a political statement, got a 30 day ban. Yet this thread continues on life support, toting the line between Dumbgeon and :locked:

I did not see the statement.

And either your statement is very innocent, or you’re trying to bait someone into a response that gets them banned lol

It’s hard to talk sense into young guys when it comes to car/truck mods. It’s just a money pit that you will never see a return of investment on. The truck will be most reliable with its factory tires and suspension. It’s as simple as that. Not only do you take the cost of the lift kit and initial tires, but guess what? Now you are paying more for gas, more frequent repair issues and replacement tires in the future. I’d wager you can kiss an extra 5-7k down the drain over the time you keep the vehicle.

This almost sounds like a Friday thread, really.

Father owns one house outright and almost fully a second ... the son helped build the second. The father did this on 40% of a bank-teller salary.

And the son works at a bank that is so deep into a hellscape that a Tacoma is absolutely necessary. My 2007 Corolla could handle heavy gravel, washboard and even a few medium washout-cuts (it could not handle roads I do want to travel, though).

    I think I will depart from this broom-dancing Disney(c)-worthy fantasy-land forever.

This right here^^^!!!! You rewarded your son for dropping out of school, co-signed for a truck he couldn’t afford you’re already teaching him how to do it all wrong. Might has well let him screw up the truck pretty sure you’ll pay for it anyways.

This whole mess is a shit show. Why post this stupid shit to begin with? And why does every idiot feel compelled to tell some other dumbass how to spend their $$. After reading this post and the replies, my IQ dropped 50 points. Which means it’s now negative. Thanks assholes.
