Is the turbo water cooled? Might be leaking coolant internally

yeah check you turbo. Seals could be bad. Can't remember the miliage but could maybe do with a rebuild. And while you're at it get a 57 trim CT26 in it instead :D

Water and oil cooled. I did end up breaking the water cooled tube that goes to the turbo so I replaced that with some rubber fuel line hose I had laying around

I'll keep an eye on it as I drive it more this week close by. If I go that route I'll probably end up spending more money on this engine (upgrading and piece of mind replacements) then I'd like to but shit 1J/2J prices keep going up so it may be the better option at this point. I only want reliable 400-450HP whichever engine I was going to keep or get

you can get a 7m to 400hp and it still be pretty reliable. Just need to do the head gasket studs and a MHG and run a bit extra oil(1/3 quart extra I think? Maybe its 1/2) and it'll run great.

But a 57 trim with 3'' cat back exhaust and you'll be hiting fuel cut/limt anyways haha but it'd be fun to drive.

I mean thats what I'd do till it did something worse to merit a tear down and forged pistons and rods and head work. 2j swap is the dream....sadly it's everyones dream and they are getting harder to find. Plus parts are so expensive for it.

Yeah you sent me down a rabbit hole haha, spent the afternoon browsing some stuff. I’m thinking that’s what I’ll do, probably do a small engine rebuild and upgrade some stuff while I have it apart. That way I know this engine better and piece of mind stuff has been taken care of.

That’s good to hear! Thanks I appreciate it. Been a good project and am happy with where it’s currently at once I figure out the last few issues

I love the supra! Is this an Mk3 or 4? Also how can you tell between the 3 and 4. I've been dreaming about starting a build like this!

MKIV is what was in fast and furious, its rounded hips. 93-98(in the US, Japan had them until 02)

MKIII is more "squared" off and muscle looking IMO. and more cool  1987-92(92 is VERY rare though)

Once I get it painted it'll look better. I may have my buddy wrap it black since he only charges $400 for Supras plus wrap. Cheaper/quicker than paint and it'll look I think since his looks damn good. But first I need to address the other 3 issues ha. I loved the Mk4 growing up (who didn't) but MK3 is better IMO because it's easier to obtain and when people know what it is, they know what it is haha. Everybody knows a Supra but the real ones know the MK3 ha

MK3 and the others above has basically stated what it is. If you have the money I'd do it sooner rather than later as the prices have been going up on everything (not due to inflation or any political thing, I kind of blame the new Supra for prices ha)

yeah anything "euro" is nuts. The blinkers are also very desirable.

Also added a hatch visor but of course forgot to take pictures of that….

Still runs pretty good, hopefully some money will be spent on some engine stuff. We shall see

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along

    I put one in a 85 Celica !!

I was going to install the 7M-GTE in a 86 4x4 pick up decided on the 3.4 instead so now it sits since I was hurt.

Nice! I've seen somebody throw a 7M into a pickup but yeah the 3.4 is an easier swap. I'm planning on doing that to my '92 4Runner when I find the right donor and some money haha. Sucks to hear about getting hurt, never fun at all
