Does the 2014 come standard with a coolant filter? Just noticed on my new used 2014 there is a filter with line running to the radiator.

    Thanks in advance, JC

Referring to this? That thing under the filter is the oil cooler. 31408d1280429090-larger-oil-filter-1gr-f_b290eb2af3874a940a2c568a84deddb9878c41c8.jpg

Factory coolant filter is between the headlights:D

It does a great job capturing contaminants

The smaller one in the dashboard does a good job collecting crud too. When the dash vents stop blowing heat you know its time to change it

It could be a filter in the transmission line running to the radiator.

It's the factory installed engine oil cooler. The transmission cooler is mounted ahead of the radiator which is mounted between the headlight.

Could someone provide me with the OCI for the coolant filter? Mine must be long overdue. Should it clog, my engine would overheat and blow the head gasket.

    OMG!

I know all new Tacoma's that come with a v-6 automatically comes with the tow package which includes the class IV hitch, 1- round 7-prong & 1 - 4-flat wired trailer light plugs, oil cooler, tranny cooler, 130amp alternator and type 27 battery. GM at AutoNation Toyota in Weston,Fl. told me 2 months ago when I bought my 4x4 TRD Sport.

Tranny cooler sits right out in front of radiator towards drivers side of radiator

Did a web search for Tacoma coolant filters. There are none to be found online, ergo, you don't have one.

That picture is a "Oil Cooler", not coolant filters, the tow package comes with a slighty bigger radiator is what I was told, I did not compare it to a 4 cylinder radiator, because again all New Tacoma's with a V-6 come with tow package.

    Cool story bro.

The OP is asking about a non-existent coolant filter for their 2nd gen, not a 3rd gen like you bought...

It's pretty common on older vehicles because a lot of times they sat disassembled and the blocks have lots of build up inside etc. I've never needed one on my classics though
