Are you still driving the truck? If it's just sitting you can take off the belts and remove the timing cover and fan mount to see if it's the water pump before you buy any parts.

Who's going to be doing the work, your neighbor?

No I am not driving it. No actually my co worker is going to do it for me. So in case i need to drive it out to his place i want to keep it in working order. If it was a headgasket it shouldn't be leaking coolant right?

Depending on what kind of compression failure you have related to the head, you can have oil seep into the coolant, coolant seep into the cylinders, both, or coolant leaking out of a couple other places.

Bad headgaskets will often burn coolant in the cylinder and you'll have a white cloud coming out of your tailpipe even after warm up, and your exhaust will smell like coolant. Sometimes a bad headgasket will also produce a bunch of small bubbles in the coolant overflow tank when the engine is running.
Leaky water pumps are pretty common, especially if it is the original (they used RTV instead of an actual gasket and they didn't last that long).
