Leak? Radiator cap? Coolant compression test would be a good idea

Hear gurgling water in the dash?
I'm gonna say Head gasket. Mine went at 238,000 in my 06.
It also ran rough for a few seconds in the morning or after it had sat for s few hours.

That is hot. Mine got around that temp when my headgasket blew.
    Test for gasses in coolant.
    Check oil for coolant.

Your system is sucking air in from somewhere and the air doesn't let the coolant flow.

    Sweet/fruity smell coking from exhaust?

I had the same thing happen on an old (pre-Tacoma) Toyota truck with about 200k miles. The radiator was clogged preventing the coolant from flowing through the cooling fins. Took it to a radiator shop and had it cleaned out. Fixed my problem.

Bro...with an 06’ there is a strong possibility that your head gasket blew. The head gasket was defective 05-06...go get it checked and go buy some anal lube to prepare for the $3k tab to get the work done...ask me how I know...

I do hear gurgling in the dash. What does that mean and/or point to?

I know I want to make sure not to just jump to that in case it is something like a clogged radiator or something

That means you have a blown head gasket and you have exhaust gas in your coolant ...sorry bro but all signs point to the defective head gasket prob

You have a bad head gasket. You really don't want to drive it. You never know if that leak is going to become a geyser and fill the cylinder with coolant and lock the motor up.
As for doing other stuff... Water pump, tstat.. Flush the radiator...

What would be the best test to check if the head gasket is fried? I don’t have any coolant in oil, car starts and idles fine every single time.

What is leading everyone to head gasket though?

The reason I’m so hesitant is everyone screamed and screamed head gasket on my subaru online wen through that whole trouble and that wasn’t even the issue it was the coil pack.

So now I’m much more inclined to do the small things that would be the cause and work my way to that cause...

You have exhaust gasses in the coolant system. There is only one way that happens, and it ain’t a coil pack.

03-06 have a faulty head gasket design. It was updated in 2007. This is an extremely common issue on T4R/Taco 4.0’s. Happened to mine at 253k

Your exhaust will have distinct sweeter smell if its burning coolant. Just think of what coolant smells like in the bottle and then go smell your exhaust.

    Yes
Because it is an extremely widely known fact that the 05-06’ had a defective head gasket design. We are trying to save you from wasting time and money chasing other stupid stuff. All you have to do is go to a shop and they will test the coolant for exhaust gas, if it is there your head gasket is blown plain and simple. If not THEN spend money chasing all the small shit.
