I was staring to clean the engine bay and just wipe here and there when I noticed that the coolant reservoir bottle was a little crusty. It's not wet or anything, just dry flaky stuff. Is that normal or does that mean it has a little leak and need to bring to the dealership? I am still under warranty.. Only 21k miles.

    Thanks!!

Probably a small leak around the top return hose. Nothing too serious unless you're losing a lot.

I had the same thing so I put a small hose clamp around it and it stopped leaking.

^^^ This or do what I did and left it alone. Not a major or minor issue worth worrying about. As long as the engine isn't overheating I wouldn't worry about it, it is a reservoir.

My 2011 had it too. I wiped it clean and it has been fine. If it dos it again I will do the clamp.

don't even need a hose clamp. use a piece of bailing wire, and tighten it around the hose, about 1/4" up from where it terminates into the tank. For some reason, many second gens do this, and once cleaned, and more appropriately attached, it never returns.

thanks guys for the quick replies!!

yea not overheating or anything and haven't even filled it up. Not sure if they refilled it when i took it for the first couple free oil changes as part of their 10 point check or whatever they call it, but ill keep an eye now.

i think i did this with my other vehicle long time ago and i used zip tie around it and just tightened it enough

My 07 was doing this.. I wipe it clean and the next time I pull into the garage
And have a look it is leaking again. I fixed it with a plastic tie-wrap.. Won't cut into the hose like wire or clamp. Hasn't leaked for a couple years.
