Is there anyone who can give me the correct part number for the coolant temperature sending sensor located on the back of a 1999 2.4Litre engine. Mine has two sensors from what I can gather. I have a new one for the front of the engine. I am unable to determine if they used the same sensor on the back using various engines or if they were engine specific. I need to pull the Throttle body and the intake manifold and this seems like a good time to try and replace that sensor in the back which is so difficult to access. This might make it actually possible.

    Thanks,

    Lou

One is a sender, one is a sensor.

The sender, simply tells your needle on your gauge where it should sit.

The sensor, is used by your ECU.

Sender is one wire and sensor is two.

I was going to say that, but I thought I saw one variant with three wires on the sensor.

True, sender is usually just one wire.

    Hi,

Thanks for the information. I have got to assume that there is a difference between the $7.50 version that is unmarked and the $41.00 version that is marked and the original part. Hate to spend $7.50 on a sensor and have it break down a week later. Especially when it's so difficult to replace. Don't even want to think the expensive unit will break in as short a time as well. How do they make something that only costs $7.50 when the authentic one costs so much more. What exactly is in these things that warrant the cost. Anyway, just curious. You always have this thought it's the same thing and when Toyota brands it , the price goes up. But then again.

    Thanks,

    Lou
