Cooling System Flush

    Hey Tacoma Brothers,

    I helped my buddy Sean do a cooling system flush on his rig. His cooling system had some nasty pond scum looking green coolant and he wanted to switch over to Toyota coolant. We made a video of it and here it is:

    I just replaced my radiator and flushed the system. Mine was pretty icky as wel!

    here's a stupid question,if your truck holds 9.5 quarts and you only get 8 quarts out,why can't you get that last 1.5 quarts out?

    my truck holds 9.1 quarts,so if i only get out 8 quarts the other 1.1 quart is nothing to worry about?

    depends,
    if the old coolant was still good, then don't worry
    if the old fluid was past its time then a few cycles of distilled water then new coolant

    it was old so i will do a few cycles of distilled water and let it get up to operating temp and then should i turn the heater on? and for how long ?

    The way I do it is drain the radiator fill it with distilled water using spill proof funnel. run til thermostat opens drain and repeat until it’s just water coming out. Then then drain and fill with coolant.

    Well the water (coolant) will start moving I just let it get to temperature.
