I'd call them back and talk to Jim Galvin and tell him you really want the newer technology and aesthetics behind the new version. Make sure you have your prices from places like tirebuyer.com because they will do their best to price match.

The AT3 LT265/75/16, slightly bigger then stock but way more aggressive pattern and deeper tread. No power loss felt either.

Alright guys, I’m thinking I might pull the trigger on the LT’s in a 265/70/17. The E rated weigh 50 lbs and the C rated weigh 47 lbs.
    The 4S weighs 43 lbs I believe.
The cost difference between C and E is like $5/tire... not enough to matter.

For 3 lbs difference shouldn’t I just go with the E’s?

E's are overkill for most people on a Tacoma. If you tow heavy loads, or if you off road and tear sidewalls, then E will make sense. Not many other reasons to when you have a C rated option.

I would stick with C, unless you do serious off roading, or haul real heavy loads, which you probably don't.
E will have a harder ride, with no other benefits for everyday use.

Kinda hard to tell from the pic, but i just got the AT3 4S installed yesterday. So far I love em a lot. Highway driving is buttery at 35psi, kind of want to test them on an easy trail tomorrow.

Quick trip on Maple Spring Rd. in Silverado Canyon. Not a single truck was out there today, except one Edison truck. Consider them broken in!

Just got me some new AT3 4S's too, to replace my ATW's, which I had only great things to say about. Stock size, ready to finally install my 5100s next week.

I'm riding on 30psi on the 4S's and they ride perfect for me. Stoked on these so far.

I pulled the trigger on some 265/70/17 LTs in an E today. Gonna see how they ride.... I was previously gonna go with the ST Maxx in an E, they’re like 7 lbs heavier than the LTs. I feel like I made a good compromise. I was gonna get some LT’s in a C, but I could get the E’s cheaper and there’s only 3lbs difference.

I was considering the 4S, but I spend a lot of time off-road and/or on gravel and have ruined a number of passenger tires on this truck.
Edit: I don’t have them yet, it’ll probably be a week or so before I get them installed.

At first I was thinking BFG KO2s, but I read some bad reviews about them in the rain. I had 2 sets of the original KOs and liked them a lot, but it rains a lot in FL so I'm worried about these new ones. Then I was thinking Falken Wildpeak AT3W, but I was reading through that massive thread, and it seems like lot of people have have balancing, vibration, and premature wear issues.

Now these new Discoverer models might be exactly what I've been looking for. I currently have a set of Cooper Discoverer RTX that came on my T4R. I think they are solid although boring looking.

I'm debating the 4S in 255/75R17 (31.97 diameter, 10 width, and 39 lbs) vs the LT in 265/70R17 (31.57 diameter, 10.6 width, and 47 lbs). 95% of my driving is on pavement, and I'm not sure if the LT is worth the weight penalty. I'm sure the LT is tougher and looks better, but it's hard to tell a big difference in the side lugs in the pictures. What do you guys think?

I’d say go with the LT, deeper tread, stronger sidewall, minor price/weight difference. I did and I can’t notice much difference even from the stock tires. Except my new LT are quieter on the road then the stock tires.
