I currently have michelin defender ltx m/s tires. Is it worth it to switch over to the at3 4s or at3 lt with the deeper treads? I want something a little more aggressive for forest service roads and very light off roading. I have rarely tow and currently have a soft topper with bed rack and rtt on top.

I'm always in favor of a little beefier tire when your out away from things. The extra protection against punctures and slices is worth it in my opinion. It's not 100% protection, but more is better.

Is the 4s a big enough step up in terms of durability from the defenders or should I go for the LTs?

It really depends on your environment, but for your stated use, I think the AT3 4S would be enough unless you're on Forest Roads and doing light off roading 5x a week. I go off roading maybe once a month and the 4S has worked fine aside from a wet, red clay road. Truck got a little slideways a few times but staid on track.

I'm in agreement with Snaeper based on what you described. If you are not driving in areas with sharp loose rocks, the 4S would probably be best to combine with pavement driving.

Currently running the AT3 4S on my 01' Taco. Went to them after a few weeks of the Falken Wildpeaks that Discount could not balance, so they suggested the swap to the Coopers. They seem like good tires so far, I much preferred the "look" of the Wildpeaks.

Sorry to hear your Falken Wildpeaks AT 3W wouldn't balance for you but we're glad to hear your local Discount Tire store to care of you and got you into the Cooper AT3 4S tires that are doing well for you.

    Thank you for your support.

I have had three sets of AT3 (2 old style and 1 new style) on my old '98 Chevy I just traded in for my 2019 TRD Pro. I like the protection of the Kevlar in the stock tires, but don't like the "street tread" style of the tire. I loved my AT3s on my Chevy (3 sets over 175,000 miles (total miles 237,750 when I bought the TRD Pro)) but always ran the Load Range E as I hauled heavy trailers a lot. How are the sidewalls on the AT3? I have the Rekgen mudflaps installed as well does the 265/75/16 fit without rubbing on the Pro. Hoping someone with the Pro is running these tires. All my buddies stay go with KO's but good grief they are expensive. I run forest roads here but want something tough enough to go to Utah and drive the White Rim Road. Any advise is appreciated. I love Discount Tire here locally and bought two of those previous sets from them.

Have only had the Cooper 4s, 265/75/16, for a few weeks and so far, so good. Mostly highway miles. Only complaint is that the tire does not like tire shine, it just soaks into the tire.

do you have a specific question about them? i run E range AT3 LT 30", ultra hard tires, and i love them. i have gone between these and the STMaxx as they share the same inner carcass. i used to run Fox suspension but now on King.

I basically want to know if they come in stock size (265/70/16) or if I have to get the 265/75/16 to get the LT. Also if I move up to the 265/75/16 will they rub (some say they rub on an Off Road and not the Pro and some say no rub regardless with one saying rub with larger rocks/dips). Also how many plies in the sidewalls.

Yes, they come in 265/70/16 in LT. I wish they did in the XLT style! Click "full specs" drop down...

I have a 2018 pro and had LT265/75R16 Cooper S/T Maxx with no rubbing and they are slightly bigger than AT3’s. I would go with the AT3 LT’s they are more durable than the AT3 4S and are way more durable that KO2’s.

Ok. I was searching for the XLT's in the 265/75/16 and couldn't find them. Guess that answers the question why. Currently I am leaning towards the Lt's in the 265/75/16. C to E is the tough choice. I do want good sidewall protection on rocky trails and roads but not sure I need the E for that.

Ah, I thought your were looking for stock size (265/70) which the LT has. XLT is total 2500 full size truck territory.
