I agree and the best part of the rubber wears out after 30k miles usually. I try to start looking into replacing them around 45k-50k miles. I'm at 33k on these XLT's currently and they are still doing good but starting to get noisy on the highway. I may replace these a little earlier than I normally do.

I'm looking to put an Alucab canopy camper on the back of my 2019 Tacoma and want to know which of the 3 variants I should get. Plan to do a small to moderate amount of mild off-roading with mostly highway miles.

Had a good old fashioned blow out on the highway last night with one of my year-old, <10k miles driven AT3's. Sounded like a bomb went off under the truck and immediately knew what happened so I pulled off and swapped out for the spare.

I saw no debris or other obstacles on the road surface, and by the looks of the tire I'm thinking it was a bubble that caused the failure.

The damage to the rim is concerning but probably repairable. I'm assuming that scuff on the rim is from impact with the road surface but its hard to say. That scuff could also indicate I did hit an object but I have my doubts.

Any thoughts on this, judging on my photo? I filed a road hazard claim with Tire Rack so hopefully I should be getting a full replacement.

These tires are fantastic in the sand. Aired down to 14psi.

Upon further inspection, there is quite a bit of damage to the rest of the tire. I'm having a hard time understanding what exactly would have caused this failure, possibly some diabolical metal object but I was paying attention to the road and didn't see anything.

I was running the tires at 35psi, temps were about 80deg F, on the highway at 65mph for about fifteen minutes. The tire make/model is 265/70r16 Cooper AT3 4S SL. My truck bed was empty at the time, and not very much weight in the cab either.

where did you buy them? any chance the shop has interest in contacting Cooper for an inspection, because they may be interested. i had a failure of a Cooper some years back and Cooper wanted the tire back... all that was through DT and they were all very helpful, although i personally never got the end story.

you have my attention with this. i run AT3 LT E loads and i run them regularly 90 and up for 30-60 minutes at a time. although i feel the LTs to be quite a bit stronger than the 4S all around, therer are plenty of questions now. hell, i just may slow down some.

I bought them from tire rack, the distribution center down in Delaware. Thankfully they have a two year road damage warranty on top of the one year manufacturer warranty. The tech who loaded my replacement tires this morning was equally mystified by the damage.

If this is in fact caused by a defect, I think this would be a very rare incident given the popularity and amazing ratings these tires have.

Just picked up a set of 265/75/16 at3 lt in load range c. So far they look like a great tire with deep tread. Excited to see how they perform compared to the wild peaks they are replacing

I plan to upgrade my stock Wranglers to this exact tire. They weigh 47lb each - same size and load you’ve selected. That’s 10lb more than stock per tire. Could you let us know how they ride? Noise? Acceleration impact given they are a larger/heavier tire than stock (if you can remember what it was like stock)? Thanks!!!

I ran these for 60k miles before I went up to 285's. They were great for the first 35k-40k miles then they got kinda loud and sucked in the rain. But that's the case for most AT tires I've ran. Nitto AT's, BFG AT's, 2 sets of these coopers. I would say the coopers have been the best so far but my next tire I may go with the Toyo AT3's. Have a few friends running them and been wanting to try them.

I will do a full impression and review of them once I mount them and get some miles on them to compare to the wildpeaks I’m running now. It will probably be a month or two before I mount them so there fresher for the northeast winter haha. And don’t worry I’ll take lots of photos too!

Look like E loads to me. How’s highway noise? Acceleration?

    Yes 285/75/16 E Load

    No highway noise at all.

Tire size has effected acceleration but I am tuned and helps out a bit.

I have found them to be pretty good about warranty stuff. I had just put a set on my old truck and was driving home from the shop and just happened to hit something just right on the thinnest part of the tread and put a hole in it. The shop repaired the tire and mounted a new one while giving me the repaired one as a spare. Although, I never used it because I traded in that truck less than 1k miles later for my Taco.

I plan on getting the 265/75/16 Cooper LTs in C load, seems everyone likes them. What has me scratching my head Tire Rack rates the 4S (SL Load) higher for off-roading including mud.. which is a real head scratcher given the LT has deeper tread. The 4S is rated higher in almost every category. Any idea why?
