Following up to share my experience with Cooper AT3 4S - I had a set installed in 265-75-16 on stock wheels and suspension a few months ago. After about 8000 miles they are working great for my use. I got them out in moderate snow recently and they handled nicely. My truck is a daily driver with occasional dirt and gravel roads, some fields and towing - no extreme off roading yet. I have been very happy with these tires and would recommend them for people with similar uses.

These Coops did not disappoint in Tahoe a few weeks ago. Hooked up very well in fully covered snowy conditions. Will keep buying them as long as they make them

I hate to be "that guy" when it comes to a popular item, but to those who have had their ATS 4S tires for a few years, please inspect the sidewalls.

This is a tire from my wife's Grand Cherokee after 3 years and 34,000 miles of usage. The reason I list this is that 265/60-18 is the correct size for the 18" wheels on the Limited. I didn't see the other (3) tires have this damage, but this is scary enough I'm swapping to a different tire, which is a shame since they have even 8/32 tread across 3 of the 4 tires (4th has 7/32). The tires have always been properly inflated and rotated at 5,000 mile intervals.

I don't know if this is weather checking, early dry rot, or a manufacturing defect, but the tread above the crack is a different texture than the rest of the sidewall. Whether this is "normal" or cosmetic, I don't know, but this is the family hauler and I don't want to risk a highway blowout, either. If I pushed I'm sure I could get Cooper to warranty this tire, but I'd be on the hook for three more and after seeing this I'm gunshy to do another set of these.

I hope I'm in the minority of owners, but please take a look at your sidewalls the next time you're working on your truck.

Better to be safe than sorry specially on family car.

That’s not good. Where did you buy them from? That should be under warranty

The local indie shop I use said contact Cooper direct as they no longer have local reps. Cooper kicked it back to the indie shop so it’s all fingerpointing.

I spoke with the owner for a bit and he said he could definitely get that one tire prorated, but any prorated amount back would only be towards another Cooper tire. Factoring in the fact since it’s 4WD I’d be on the hook for (3) at retail getting 50% off one doesn’t really enthuse me since I don’t have a ton of faith in another set, which I don’t think unreasonable at this point.

Finally my 285 70 17 at3 4s are about shot. Took 4 years first it on the tacoma then swapped over to the 4runner.

While these tires did last 45k+ miles. And on road traction in any weather condition these tire did great. My issues came with getting them balanced, they took a lot of weight. Had to have them road forced balance at an offroad shop(not the dealer)

I will not be buying another set. There's to many other tires to try.

If there is a conveniently located Discount/America's Tire store near you, It wouldn't hurt to get a second opinion. They can prorate Cooper brand tires to another brand. Some stores will offer a trade in on the other 3 as well.

Appreciate the offer, but there’s none within 500+ miles of me. I would have absolutely taken advantage if I could.

What’s the date code on your tires? I bought into the 4S fairly early so I’m curious if there’s a set date range this is happening.

Mine are late 2019, so maybe they just crack like this when they get older.

Upsetting, nonetheless especially since this is on the family hauler so I’m not taking a chance that’s not just cosmetic. You can see the texture of the tire differs above the crack.

I just looked. They are available but out of stock here
This place in Canada sells them, but currently out of stock. They are listed at 43lbs, very light for a 285. They also list as being on the smaller side for a 285. Good option for a light weight 285.
